Best Phone I Ever Had!

I have tried quite a few cell phones out and I must admit this has been my best to date (muchhhhhh better than nokia, motorola, and sony ericson). The reception is excellent, external caller id is nice, display looks sharp, and the sound quality is superb. I have been very pleased with t mobile overall. yes, verizon has better coverage but costs about 25% more. not worth it. plus, their phones are much more expensive and uglier. anyway, here are my caveats about this phone:the ring tones leave much to be desired (whatever happened to normal phone rings---not everyone likes to hear a stupid song when the phone rings).the antennae is not flexible..kinda annoying when it is in your pocket. i am always worried it will break.display is impossible to see in sunlight.the wap browser is super slow. t mobile needs to invest in the data transfer department. also, they charge you for incoming text messages. only 5 cents but still, should be free. i dont recommend the t zones, for the amount of time it takes to connect you could boot up a computer with internet access.i wish it had speaker phone capabilites, this is a big drawback for me.anyway, overall like i said, this phone is one of the top ranking phones out there. their customer service has been awesome so far. if you live out in the boonies, you may not get that great of coverage (try verizon) but if you live in the city you should be golden. for the price, you will not be dissapointed.

This Phone Is Great!

(12/19/2004) I just got this phone yesterday. I love the reception and the sound quality is excellent. My only grip is that you can't have multiple number per contact. I had my numbers transferred from the LG6000. I HAD 100 contacts, home & cell for each. Now, I have 200 people in my phonebook. Oh well... I bought this phone as a direct result of all the headset/hand free laws that passed in each state while driving. I'll use this for a while with the speakerphone; my next purchase is going to be the Bluetooth headset.
Product features:
Integrated 1.2 megapixel camera, video capture and playback
Integrated MP3 player
Integrated Bluetooth for hands-free, eyes-free talking
Integrated speakerphone
Buit-in 10 MB memory and SD-compatible removable memory slot

Great palm/phone with limitations

I transitioned from a regular cell phone and a palm vx to this treo 600. The 650 was not available at that time.
This phone works great. It crapped out once and all data was lost (synch backup a week before). Otherwise it works great.

Pluses:
- Palm functionality integrated well with phone functionality.
- SD Card reader
- Camera
- backlight keyboard

Minuses:
- Very slow data transfer via synch - instead transfer via sd card
- low res screen
- camera is pretty poor in quality, but comparable to some first generation camera phones
- small keyboard buttons
- need adapter to use headphones
- very low volume speaker and poor quality speakerphone
- No graffiti pad
- Not bluetooth or Wifi (although I heard you can get a wifi sd card)

I would highly recommend you get a nice case to protect this phone and screen protectors to minimize damage to the screen.
Product features:
Unlocked for use with your existing GSM 850 MHz, GSM 1800 MHz, GSM 900 MHz or GSM 1900 MHz service provider and SIM card. Note: This phone does not come with service or a SIM card.
Treo 600 combines a full-featured mobile phone and Palm OS organizer with wireless applications like email, text messaging, web browsing and even a digital camera
QWERTY keyboard makes entering text and accessing information fast and familiar-perfect for messaging and a must have for email
Take a picture or share images with others via email-you can even attach a photo to a phone number so you can see exactly who's calling with Picture Caller ID
Because Treo 600 runs the popular Palm OS, there are thousands of applications you can download and use

Moto v400

The motorola is Cingular's best offering (right now). the phone has a very high resolution screen (176 by 220) . I love the sound quality and even speakerphone has good sound and the other party can hear me. The mp3 ringtones are fun, but often expensive. The camera resolution is normal ( VGA or 640 by 480 ) In general this is a solid phone that I would strongly recomend, please e-mail me with any questions, ( DrSmile2@aol.com)
Product features:
Tri-band GSM phone is notable for its high-resolution display, VGA camera, and MP3 ringtones
Camera features 5MB of memory, self-timer, saves images for Picture Caller id

T-Mobile Color Sidekick Phone (T-Mobile)
Too Many Features to Wrong!!

Calling this just a phone really is a disservice. As a matter of fact, as a phone the SideKick really is only average. Reception is very good (better than my old Nokia), but the form factor takes some getting used to, and dialing #'s not already programmed in can take some work. That said, in every other aspect the SideKick is the best electronic gadget I've ever seen, it just works and works wonderfully.1) Email. Wow. I am on email constantly, have used every client under the sun, and I can say reading and replying to email on the SideKick is the best environment I've yet to find. It's lightning quick, always up to date, and of course, always available. I can't tell you how well this works.2) Address book. What makes this one so useful is of course the form factor. It doesn't take 5 minutes to type somebody's name in, it takes 5 seconds. Very well done.3) Calendar. Finally a calendar system I can use. Simple and functional, plus it'll sync with my outlook contacts and appointments without me every having to dock. This is how life is supposed to be.4) The Web. An excellent implementation. Checking movie times, slashdot, fark, cnn or most any other site works extremely well, and quickly. It has saved me more than once. The biggest thing you can't appreciate is just how good the screen and keyboard is, and how well the wheel works as a navigation aid. Some Apple people worked with Danger to create this device, and their attention to detail is apparent here.Did I mention you also get a Telnet and SSH client, and it has an open API to write new applications for. For the geek, there is no cooler toy.
Product features:
Important note: It's required that you add the Sidekick Unlimited Data option to your service plan before you check out.
To add the required option, you must add the Sidekick and a service plan, and then on the Accessories page, you need to select the Sidekick Unlimited Data option located under Service Options (this option is located on Step 3 in the checkout process)
The T-Mobile Sidekick is the ultimate communication device
A large color screen that flips open to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard makes for quick and easy communication
Stay connected with all your friends with unlimited e-mail, AOL Instant Messenger, Internet browsing, text messaging and mobile snapshots

Jabra EarWave Boom with Universal 2.5mm connector
Good middle of the road earpiece from Jabra. Enjoy.

Jabra makes, by far the best hands-free devices on the market. The EarWave Boom is a good model that will satisfy 90% of people who need hands-free functionality for their cell phones.

Jabra has gotten away from the ear gels for this model. I personally prefer the ear gels, but this unit fits fine in your ear with the ear wrap-around. It's comfortable and works fine.

As for the hands-free jack on your phone, you have to make sure you have a 2.5 millimeter jack. That is the one with 2 stripes on the plug. Calling this "Universal" is a little bit of an overstatement, but with a little research you can verify which model fits your phone. Unfortunately, a specific compatibility list is hard to come by. Look at the specs for your phone and give it a try.

The microphone will capture sound just fine. For those who experience a lot of interference or muffling, I recommend you try the version with "Noise Cancelling." It's about $7 more but for certain models of phone the difference can be worth it.

The Jabra EarWrap has a slightly better wraparound attachment and a slightly longer arm. For those who don't like the microphone arm, the Jabra EarWave Bud doesn't have a microphone arm, but instead has the small mic on the cable with a clip to attach it to your tie or shirt. Personally I don't like those models.

I have not found much difference in sound quality between the different Jabra models. The differences are mainly in comfort, style, and ease of use. This product is decently priced, but I think it could be more affordable.

Try other higher end models if you are more demanding, like I am, and are willing to spend the money. This is a pretty good model though, definitely enough to satisfy most users.
Product features:
Ultra-lightweight design, unbeatable comfort, breakthrough styling.
Outstanding voice clarity and noise-canceling microphone.
Low-profile earpiece fits snugly behind the ear for a discreet look.
JABRA MiniGels channel sound for great reception and pivot for use in either ear.
Includes one EarWave Boom headset with 4ft. (1.2m) cord and four MiniGels -- two standard and two small.

Great phone with Java support for applications!

Not only can you download ringtones and java games, but also complete java applications into this phone! You can use IRC (chat), a complete Web browser, even small word processing and spreadsheet programs!!! Wow! It supports java and waba applications!

The best part is that you can synchronize it in Windows, Mac, and Linux. You're not forced to use one specific operating system/computer to transfer data. In fact, you don't even need a computer, since you can download everything directly from the phone. It's like a very small computer.

The plans availible include, as of January 2005, free nights + free weekends + no contracts or fees ever + 750 minutes or more for less than $40. And you can use those minutes for over 3 months.
Product features:
No prepaid minutes included. Requires no credit check and no annual contract
Share information and experiences with MMS
Download java games and applications
Comes with a full-color screen with bright white LCD
Note: this Nokia 3595 phone model is only compatible with AT&T Go Phone service plans

Worked, but not Durable

I bought this device because I wanted to have a PDA and phone in one single unit. It worked well for a while, then the ear jack slot would not work. So I was constrained to use only the PDA function. Within about 6 months of use, I observed the battery would run down quickly. Presently, I cannot get it to come on; and I bought it early 2004. During the time it worked, it was cool, but it appears it cannot take the kind of rigors expected of such a device. Believe me, I am not a careless person.
Product features:
E-mail delivered on a handheld capable of the fastest GSM/GPRS data speeds available
Advanced phone features include 5-way conferencing, callback reminders, Quick Connect, hands-free headset
Thumb keyboard to type e-mails and messages
Ultra sharp color display high resolution 320 x 320 display
Add applications, memory, and functionality in a snap with SD/MultiMediaCard slot

Serious Software Shortcomings

If you are a power user of the address book or any high memory usage functions beware of this phone. I have the address book loaded with over 2000 Outlook contacts which is very useful for me. However, resultantly any contact beginning with "d,e,f" can not be searched upon, the operating system reboots randomly at least twice a day and overall functionality of the phone slows to a crawl. I have researched other contact or address book applications but unfortunately this version of the Symbian operating system is very limited. Nokia thought I had a phone problem but I am now on my second phone with exactly the same problems. Also be aware that although the 16mb memory expansion is nice, very few of the applications can address that area of memory, resulting in the 4mb resident memory filling up very fast and limiting overall capabilities. Although I find the camera useful, the picture quality suffers from the limitations of an inferior lens. I disagree with most of the comments about the keyboard, after a couple of days you find yourself getting used to it. Bluetooth is difficult to configure but once it is, you will love that aspect of the phone more than any other. I have yet to find a phone that combines seamlessly with the functionality of a PDA and this isn't it.
Product features:
Wireless phone with integrated video/digital camera
3.4 MB on board storage, MultiMediaCard expansion slot
Oversized display for MP4 video playback
High-speed Internet access, supports Java-based downloads
Integrated Bluetooth connectivity for data transmission to other Bluetooth devices
