Motorola V551 Phone (Cingular)
great phone for the price

great phone, great price. bluetooth, quad band, outer display, everything a phone should have is here. i love the outer display although i wished it could've been a little bigger and offer color display for a wallpaper and photo id, but it serves its purpose by displaying incoming caller name and reception bars and battery life. the shell is nearly scratch free due to the cool rubbery surface. its a phone where i dont have to worry about scratching or abusing since its fairly inexpensive with a rugged, yet beautiful construction.
Product features:
Quad-band GSM phone with built-in Bluetooth
Integrated VGA camera with 4x zoom and video capture
MP3 ringtone capable
Features EDGE high-speed data network compatibility
Conference calling and integrated hands-free speaker

Nokia 1500 mAh Lithium-Ion Extra Capacity Battery for Nokia Phones
Long lasting but heavy

I got this battery for my Nokia 5165 after my NiMH battery started to fade. Oddly enough, the extended lithium battery is less expensive than the regular (and I assume, slimmer) lithium battery, so I bought the cheaper one with more power, which is helpful when you forget to charge your phone. The charge does last a lot longer, but my phone now weighs a ton. That's the only thing that keeps me from giving it 5 stars.
Product features:
High-density lithium ion cells
Compatible with most vehicle chargers
Weighs up to 30 percent less than NiMH batteries
Environmentally friendly
Compatible with Nokia 5100, 6100 and 7100 series phones

Fabulous phone and service

I really can't say enough good things about Virgin Mobile and this phone. It is perfect for my needs.

The phone itself is tiny and cute. It is extremely functional, doesn't hog the batteries [I frequently leave it on for days at a time], gets clear reception, is easy to use, etc. I've dropped it, gotten it wet, and it still works fine. You can get all the ringtones, change the backlight color, and all that jazz.

I also adore Virgin Mobile. People give me weird looks when they see the logo on my phone, but I can't fathom signing myself into a one or more year contract for $40+ a month. I don't talk very much, but on those days when I do, it's 25 cents a minute, 10 cents a minute after 10 minutes. This service is really perfect for my needs. I estimate that I put about $20 a month into this service, so I'm saving a lot more than any other company. Virgin piggy backs off the Sprint PCS service, which I've found to be much better than Verizon and Cingular.

It seems that people who negatively review Virgin Mobile are missing the point of the service. If you are someone who uses a cell phone on a daily basis, this service is NOT for you. If you are someone that doesn't talk a lot on a cell and doesn't want to be locked into something expensive for a year, this could be the perfect solution to having the option when you need/want it.

I live in Upstate NY, but I've taken this phone all over the country. I pay no extra roaming charges and the service has been perfect everywhere I've traveled.

If you don't want to sign yourself into a long and expensive contract, check out both Virgin Mobile and this phone.
Product features:
No prepaid minutes included. Comes with battery and charger
Seven changeable backlight display colors to match your mood
External Caller ID Display: know who's calling without opening your phone
2-way text messaging, 1-touch and voice dialing
Charger included for powering up

This is the one!

I am very happy with this purchase. For starters, this has got to be the best deal out there for a Smartphone. But, forget about the deal, this is a great device at any (reasonable) price! Not only is this the best Windows Mobile device I've ever had my hands on, but this is the best all-around mobile phone I've ever used. It's small, the sound quality is excellent, the software is stable and feature packed, and unlike previous Windows Mobile devices, the phone fuctionality is rock solid.

Check this out, you can set it to be aware of your Outlook calendar to the extent that it automaticaly puts the phone in Meeting mode (silent) when your calendar says you're in an appointment. So cool.

I guess the only thing I would change would be the 'time' setting - it doesn't pull the local time from the network like traditional mobiles do; you have to set (and change) the time manually. Maybe I just haven't figured out the setting for this yet, but it is the only 'miss' I've noticed so far and the rest of the features on the device more than make up for it.

One last great feature (that is sadly missing from most other devices) is that this phone uses a non-proprietary mini USB port on the phone for both AC and ActiveSync charging. That means that any USB/mini USB cable will charge this thing. Great design!

Product features:
World's smallest Windows Mobile Smartphone
Call, email, text message or instant message - all from one integrated phone
Email, contacts and calendar sync seamlessly with your PC
Built-In CMOS VGA Camera with Camcorder
Built-In Bluetooth and Speakerphone

Absolutely great!!!!!!

Got it yesterday, seemed cool, lots of features, came all set setup and ready to use (battery charged, acct setup).Used around house seemed fine, today in office no signal, in Target no signal , in grocery store no signal.Seems like in N.J. w/ Tmobile not usable indoors at all.Tried N. Jersey and central Jersey. Outside seems fine.So if u want it for the cool look/features but not to make/receive calls then it's fine. Not sure if it's the built in antenna or tmobile or both.

Okay, but...

Considering how cheap this phone is, I'm not giving it two stars. However, the low price factor does reflect on the phone itself. The phone doesn't have a color screen or support Java. It has limited features overall. Also, I'm not sure if this is a common problem, but I have trouble connecting a call pretty often. I need to turn the phone "off", then "on" to solve this. The phone doesn't work nearly as well indoors as my Nokia 3595 did. Let's see... can I say anything positive? Well, this phone is one of the cheapest around. It is also very thin and light and from a few feet away, looks no worse than those $400 camera phones. But if ATT is offering a free phone with a contract, I suggest you get the Nokia 3595 instead. I had a much better experience with it, until I dropped it in water :(

Hinge Broke... Glued it Back!

This is a really good color phone, the only thing that really keeps it from being perfect (in my opinion) is that the phone it a little slow when responding to buttons being pressed. Sometimes if the phone is "busy" or "thinking" it will take 2 or 3 seconds to respond to a button that you just pressed. This is especially noticable when browsing the Internet using T-Zones. I am using this phone on the T-Mobile network and have not experienced any dropped calls, the voice quality is very clear and the reception is good. The battery life is very good for a color phone, it lasts me about 5 days of talking just a few hours a day. Of course you can buy an extended capacity battery, and that would add much more talk time because it's about 60% more capacity.
The phone looks very cool, and I like that you can change out the faceplate if you so desire. The entire keypad lights up (not just the numbers on the key) so you can see it very well in the dark. The PIM software on the phone is good, although I wish you could store addresses too. The camera attachment isn't really worth much, mostly because the quality of the pictures is pretty bad. But it's good to have if you need a quick snapshot of something and don't have any other way to capture it. Although one nice thing is, besides emailing any pictures you take with the camera, you can also save them on the phone as wallpaper images. The belt holster that comes with the phone is really nice, much better than the one that came with my old StarTAC. You can leave the clip on your belt and just detach the phone if you need to use it, then all you hacve to do is slide it back onto the belt clip. Motorola also includes a neck lanyard that attaches to the top of the phone if you want to carry it around this way, it's a nice little addition. You can store wallpaper images, screen savers, ringtones and JAVA games on this phone as well. The only other negative thing I would say about this phone is that there just isn't enough internal memory to store games. I can get two games on it, maybe three, if two of them are under 20k. There is a lot of space for wallpaper images, ringtones and phone numbers, so there's no excuse for not putting more memory for games. All in all I would recommend this phone, especially if you can get it for a low price or for free. It's a very good (but not perfect) color phone with solid features. It does have some drawbacks, but then, no phone is perfect.
Product features:
Large color screen supports up to 4096 colors (120x160 pixels)
Synchronize your Phonebook, Calendar and To-Do List
Email Text and Picture Messages
Voice Dialing, Recording, and Commands
Phone supports wireless Internet and Java downloads

Save Your Money

I have both the Motorola HS 850 and the Jabra BT 800. To put it as bluntly as possible with out having the post removed, they are both very bad. The HS 850 slightly less than the Jabra only because it is easier to wear and use. I suppose if you are in quite room, they are fine but in a car or on the sidewalk, forget it. Both paired easily with the phone but neither function worth a darn with Voice Signal. At first I thought it was the problem of the phone (Samsung i730) or Voice Signal but testing the Bluetooth on other phones had the same poor result. Voice Signal works fine with out Bluetooth or with the wired head set that comes with the phone. Indeed for car use, the head set that is provided is excellent. I think Bluetooth is one of those technologies that gadget freaks like us love as it is a cool idea. I don't think they are ready for prime time yet. Certainly not at the price.
Product features:
Blue backlit LCD display shows Caller ID info on incoming calls lets you know who’s calling before you answer
Easy to use jog wheel for menu navigation and volume control
Call vibrate/ring tone function enables you to select your favorite ring tone from the headset
Automatic volume control compensates for noisy surroundings by increasing the listening level accordingly and noise cancellation technology means that the incoming caller can hear you more clearly

3 Piece Starter Kit for Motorola V220
The Price is Right

When I bought my Motorola V220, my Cingular Store charged top dollar for the car charger - and they were sold out. I was thrilled when I found this starter set on Amazon. The car charger is compatible with the V220, and it comes with case and hands-free ear bud - all for less than I would have paid for the charger alone. The ear bud does not have the best sound - voices come across as somewhat muffled, though still audible - and the case is adequate. I wouldn't buy this set specifically for those items, although they both work with/fit the V220. As I see it, they were bonuses for purchasing the charger.

Five stars for the charger, three for the rest.
Product features:
Includes Cigarette lighter adapter, Leather carrying case and Hands free earbud
Car cord powers your phone and recharges the battery while on the go
Genuine full-grain leather carrying case with clear plastic front protects the display and keypad
Comfortable earbud, mini shirt clip optimizes microphone placement & eliminates cord weight pull
Compatible with Motorola V220
