Samsung A890 EV-DO Phone (Verizon Wireless)

I don't know, and maybe it's just me, but this is the worst cell phone that I have ever owned. I waited several months for this model to come out. I should have waited a few more weeks to read reviews written by consumers.

First of all, this phone does everything. It's like the Swiss Army Knife of phones. Unfortunately, the main purpose that it was designed for, BEING A PHONE, it does poorly.

This phone is 100% digital. And wow, can you tell! This would be the perfect phone for Jacques Cousteau. Yes, you guessed it, half the time people sound like they are underwater. They should sell this phone at Dive Shops, right next to the flippers and air tanks. Worse still, entire words and parts thereof simply fail to be transmitted and received properly. This makes it almost impossible to carry on any kind of conversation without having to repeat entire sentences. Half the time you are trying to piece together what you heard with what you think the other person actually said. It's like doing a crossword puzzle! Oh, and forget about checking your voicemail. It seems that the sound quality of recorded phone messages just doesn't carry well and are especially difficult to understand.

When I walked into the Verizon store, I asked the salesperson about the phone. He claimed that it was the best phone in the store. He said that it did everything and that it did everything well. Well, he was half right. I first purchased this phone a little over two months ago and I've had to have it replaced three times already! If that wasn't bad enough, the leather carrying case that I bought was also defective and broke within 30 days. And don't let me forget about the defective battery that came with the first replacement phone.

Verizon won't refund my money and instead insists on giving me replacement phones until the problem goes away. I'm tempted to disconnect this phone and reactivate my old LG. Now that was a great phone!

Buyer beware. I'd wait until the bugs are worked out of this one.

Plantronics Headset M145 for Mobile & Cordless Phones

This is an excellent headset. I do believe the quality of it depends on the quality of your phone too, as one reviewer said before me. On all my new'ish cell phones and home phones it has worked awesome, but a little lack-luster on an older portable phone.I notice someone said earlier that you cant find replacement parts? Well.. they havent been to plantronics: website has ALL replacement parts.. for $10 I got 10 of those black ear sponges, another metal ear clip, 4 rubber ear sponges, and a bit more in a replacement part package. Oh, that includes shipping. My experience with plantronics has always been the best... This headset (after testing $50 and even $100 sets from my office) still runs on par with them, keeping plantronics high in my book. I would also recommend the plantronics audio 90 headset for home use, I've used that for well over a year with no issue as well.

Great phone...welcome to the 21st century...

After being a Nokia fan for many years, the T616 grabbed my attention. It's sleek design comes packed with a ton of features. The built-in camera is great for quick shots of my daughter. Then it's a simple process to quickly email the pic to a list of family and friends. Syncing with Outlook for contacts is also fantastic. The screen is high quality as well.I've only had 2 problems:
1) getting used to the navigation after using Nokia's for so long
2) AT&T coverage near my home is somewhat lacking; although in the city it works fine.
Product features:
The T616 features a high-resolution screen with 65,536 colors
Comes with MMS, which allows you to compose your messages using images, sounds and text
Supports the Java and Mophun platforms, making the widest range of mobile games and applications available for you to download
Supporting Bluetooth, infrared and cable, the T616 is fully compatible with any computer. Your phone books and calendars will stay synchronized and updated
With a built-in camera and QuickShare software, you take pictures and store them on your computer or send them to friends all in a few simple steps

RAZR V3: More Hype Than Phone.....

The V3 has been the mobile phone to own. Its reputation even here seems to precede its true cabilities. Nice screen. Great color. Key pad is stylish but difficult to use when writing text messages and even dialing the right phone number. Better to have phone numbers in directory (many easy ways to access without dialing the wrong number). The photo capabilities are so poor that if you want this feature on your phone, go look elsewhere (Nokia much better). Do not drop this phone. It becomes history faster than any other phone I have owned. This is also obvious since Cingular does not offer insurance on this phone - and only this phone!! If you want to own the phone to have according to the hype out there then buy it. If you want a phone to last more than 6 months, look elsewhere. A true disappointment. Not worth more $99 based on features, camera, keypad and longevity.

Don't bother

I was drawn to this phone because of its compact size and good looks. Other than these two qualities, I hate every single thing about this phone! The reception sucks- it's hard to get a clear signal in the middle of Phoenix. It's hard to hear people on the other end. It completely shuts off for no reason whatsoever. The battery life stinks- it lasts a little more than one day. The charger for my car worked only about two times. Please don't make the same mistake I did, DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!

dropped calls galore

Just got my V300 yesterday, and will be returning it on Monday. It is a nice phone indeed, very good reception, nice look&feel, quality screen, etc. My problem is that it does not offer some of the features I was used to on my T68i (more flexible address book, ability to use a phone card, etc.). So I am going to get a T610 instead.

Tri-band GSM capability
Large color display features 65,000 colors
Built-in VGA camera with zoom
Supports text messaging and wireless Internet (WAP 2.0)
Comes with 35 ringtones and supports MIDI and MP3 formats

Pocket PC Phone (T-Mobile)
More than I expected! A wonderful surprise...

I purchased the T-Mobile PocketPC Phone Edition as a necessary replacement for both a failing cell phone and an outdated palm-pilot. At first, I was just going to purchase a new phone, but since I was not entering into a new cell-phone contract (just replacing the phone itself), the prices of cell phones nowadays didn't seem very much worth their limited functionality. So I decided to try out this PocketPC Phone Edition.Let's just say that I am wonderfully surprised by the utility of this little unit. It does everything that I could desire, truly! It syncs effortlessly with other devices (my computer via IR, although you can use a USB connection; other devices by BlueTooth), making file transfer a breeze. I can view and edit documents in various common formats: Word, Excel, text/rich-text, PDF, Microsoft Reader, etc. The media capabilities allow me to store pictures, which display quite nicely on the large (~2x3") high-res screen; and I can play music and video, too -- although that is limited practically by the 32Mb internal storage (an expansion card is available). The PocketPC Phone Edition has a built-in IE web browser that functions via a GPRS connection. I have not paid for this service (appx $20/mo.), but I use the web browser often with download web pages, such as via AvantGo for news and views. Having your morning e-mail downloaded to the unit is wonderful, and makes my morning commute more productive. I greatly enjoy using the SMS message function on the phone, which allows me to text message other cell phones -- it's easier to use writing w/ a stylus than punching keys on a cell phone -- and there is an integrated In Box that stores and categorizes text messages, e-mails, sent items, etc. The Microsoft Windows CE operating system feels familiar, intuitive and functional.I will add here that the one feature that to me makes this all worthwhile is that it syncs perfectly with Microsoft Outlook, using its addressbook. No more entering numbers into my phone! I just view the addressbook entry (which shows name, address, home/work/cell phone, e-mail, etc.). Tap on e-mail, and I can write that person an e-mail. I can send an instant text message to that person's mobile phone. Tap on a phone number, and it dials. Some people may comment that T-Mobile's service lags behind other companies. In the past, I would have agreed. But, over the past few years, I believe it is on par with a lot of other companies, at least in Houston, Dallas and New York City, where I have lived, and major metropolitan areas, where I have travelled. This phone has great amplification of signal. The sound quality is good, too, and speakerphone is helpful when you are trying to talk on a noisy street.Overall, this phone has proved jam-packed with features that I use and enjoy. I am pleased with this purchase.
Product features:
Combined phone & PDA features

Motorola V180 Phone (T-Mobile)
Almost Perfect! But great enough to buy!

I have been using this phone through T-Mobile for about 2 weeks. The battery life is so long that I keep checking the battery indicator to make sure it still good by the end of a full work week without a recharge. The sound clarity is just as good as my previous phone (Nokia) and the signal seems strong as well as the clarity. This phone is also very light and you could fit into a shirt pocket without the major droop of the pocket like other phones. The features are basic, just like I wanted (without camera etc..) and the display has a nice resolution. My only major complaint is that the external volume control is right where I place my thumb when answering calls, or my fingers will rub against the buttons while the phone is ringing when I grab to answer. When this happends I unknowingly lower the volume of the ringer, and the next call I get I sometimes miss because the ringer volume is now lower. This has happend several times, and I wish I could deactivate this external feature, and just use the internal menu volume control. The only minor complaint is that this phone did not come with somekind of belt attachment or pouch. I had to buy it seperately, but it was only a few dollars extra.

Overall, I recommend this phone to people who want a lightweight phone, that has long battery life, and is nice and small to carry for work or personal use. This doesn't have every bell and whistle like (camera, mp3, bluetooth etc..) But, it does have a custom ringer feature where you can upload your own songs as a ringer (I haven't had time to do this, maybe in the future). Great quality phone!

Product features:
The sleek feature-forward model V180 offers mobile movers and shakers hip style without the hot price tag.
Polyphonic speaker for MP3 ring tunes and MPEG4 video playback
Large, vibrant color display with picture caller ID
Stylish clamshell design with integrated speakerphone

Good phone for Mac Users

I like the OS for the phone and the ability to get new applications in Symbian or Java. But it really needs a better keypad. Sending messages or writing emails is a pain.Blue tooth is a great concept and pretty good when it works. But it doesn't seem to work more then 50% of the time with the Belkin Bluetooth adapter I got for my computer. Have to always trick it into connecting. Fairly good once connected. PC software that came with the phone is not great. Adding contact is not as simple as it could be. And import seems to be limited to outlook.Turns out that the good ring tones have too quiet. Basic beeps are louder, but annoying indoors. Phone is hard to use outdoors and in windy or noisy conditions due to low sounds output.I like the display and the camera feature. Very handy for the times where you want t0 share a scene. But with no protection for the camera lens you have to stop and clean it before each shot and it seems to be getting scratched. If there was a case or holder for the phone it might help, but none have been released yet. And the phone is not a standard size.Battery doesn't last anywhere near as long as indicated. Display must really suck the power, as any use of the phone will count against the talk time, even just letting a friend play a game on it. And the battery indicator is not linear. Atleast it charges fairly quickly.Be warned that everything seems to cost: ring tones about $..., applications $..., services are often for an undisclose price to be charged to your account. Be wary.

Wireless phone with integrated video/digital camera
3.4 MB on board storage, MultiMediaCard expansion slot
Oversized display for MP4 video playback
