Motorola i90c Phone (Nextel)
a very NICE piece of commo equipment!

I used the I1000+ for several years and was afraid the I90 would be too small for a me. Wrong!. This is a rugged, yet nice piece of communication equipment. I say commo equipment, because the sales feature here is the Nextel "radio". If you have family members, clients or co-workers that utilize Nextel, then this is the way to go. I have had great cell and radio coverage throughout most of Florida. I've used the cell phone in several other states as well. Nextel indicates the radio service will be nationwide next year. This phone/radio is the way to go.

Great if you don't mind not being heard

This headset was comfortable to wear, but people couldn't hear anything I was saying-- horrible microphone. I went out and bought a generic General Electric phone headset for 11.99 & am completely satified-- flexible microphone, great sound quality, mute button, volume control.

Good phone, weird design...

This phone is very cool. The phone is a bit big and stubby and its a little hard to navigate with one hand.PROS: very good memory capacity, good camera quality, very good reception, comfortable in hand, menu items are organizable, loud monophonic ringtones, auto phone-lock, add-on programs, nifty little 5-way joystick, loud and clear speakerphone, personalized ringtones, good sound recorder, doesn't drops calls.CONS: odd design, memory card/battery issue, screen is very easy to scratch, slow loading, polyphonic and HiFi tones arent very loud and clear, WAP connection is slow, low refresh rate for video recorder, no auto-keylock, settings are very very unorganized. The most annoying thing about this phone is the settings for the phone are all over the place, not in 1 file. Overall it deserves a 4-star rating. No more and no less.

it's ok but expensive

The phone itself is great with the flashlight and the tip calculator. But The 25 cents a minute is a pain. Get a contract they are much better. The charge lasts 4 a while but with me it doesn't really matter cause i just put on the charger before i go to bed.If u don't use cells to much or want to buy it for your kid I would get this phone because with a like age 12 kid doesn't have their boss that they have to call or they get in a car accident because they're a kid. But if u use a cell alot don't get this phone, it will become very expensive.

RIM BlackBerry 7100g Phone (Cingular)
Decent email device, not a great phone.

The Blackberry 7100g is certainly a novel concept but execution suffers from all the first-attempt flaws one fears.

My biggest grouse is the lack of flexibility in the feature set and set-up. It is designed to integrate with your work email system and contacts or calendar manager - ask anything more and you are stuck.

- It is frustrating and difficult to do mundane routine tasks if they have not previously integrated with your email suite (Lotus Notes in my case).
- If you choose to separate work and play (RIM why is that so hard to contemplate) it gets worse. For instance, you cannot save numbers to the SIM without a host of steps, and once done, it takes 10 seconds to load those numbers every time you access them. The only solution is to save my grand-aunts phone number at work!
- The Java browser is inept at best and page loading times make dial up feel state of the art.
- The screen kills the top 20% with an annoying static graphic - why use so much of the screen to tell me the time when it could be used to display an email message. Does it really take a consumer clinic or a consultant to tell a designer that?

I am tech happy and love playing with buttons, but this is just too much work. The whole Blackberry revolution is uplifting and showcases how technology makes our life so much more efficient, delve deeper and you realize why technology also serves to frustrate and alienate.
Product features:
Large, high-resolution portrait LCD color screen (240 x 260 pixels)
Supports Internet e-mail (POP3/IMAP4) with BlackBerry Web client, plus legendary BlackBerry mail system
SureType QWERTY keyboard and built-in speakerphone
Bluetooth capable; also includes BlackBerry handheld software
Quad-band world phone operates on 850/1900 and 900/1800 MHz GSM/GPRS networks

"We're experiencing higher than normal call volume"

You can read elsewhere about how cool this little device is, and I concur with everything they've said; it's cool. You can take pictures, record your voice, talk on a mobile phone, keep your schedule, etc...and all in beautiful 320x320x65K resolution.

HOWEVER. Be aware that if it breaks, you'll have a hell of a time trying to get it fixed. Mine quit syncing; I swapped USB ports, reset the device, uninstalled and reinstalled Palm Desktop, etc., etc. What you'll find is that when you call palmOne, they tell you to call Cingular. When you call Cingular, guess what? You guessed it: Call palmOne. Round and round we go.

Eventually I managed to get them to send a new sync cable, which didn't work any better than the old one. Next step: a new device. So concluded a palmOne rep, so I asked her to call Cingular with me on the line to tell them. After 30 minutes or so I got stuck in the same voice menu you get when you call Cingular on your own, and no sign of the rep. Now, two reps later, I haven't gotten any farther. I don't have to guess where the call centers are located; I asked the rep. India; where else?

So do you want a cool PDA? Sure, buy this one. But if I were you, I'd buy four or five of them, so you don't have to go through this hassle when one breaks. Or you could just look elsewhere. I'm sorry it has to be this way, because in every other way I like this thing. But I hate wasting hours on the phone because a company is too cheap to provide the service it promises.

Go ahead, order. Just don't say you weren't warned. Do you speak Indian? *sigh*

Best of the best

Don't waste your time on this product. I have been through two of them in about two weeks time. Both have stopped working. It appears if you get more than a slight bend in the cord it breaks the wire. Even when they did work the sound quality was not that great.
