PCS Phone Sanyo VM4500 - Silver (Sprint)
Worth Every Penny!

I used to have the A600 from Samsung (the one with the roatating display) until I tragically lost it one night. I was uninsured and nobody else carried that phone anymore. So I went to Radio Shack and found the VM4500. I didnt get a rebate so I was a little skeptical about paying $370.00 for a cell phone but I finally decided to go for it. Now I am glad I lost that other phone. This phone has many impressive features, including the video camera/digital camera, and the speakerphone, not to mention the dual color displays. For a Sprint phone, the battery lasts a while, and it charges fast (about 45 minutes). The phone's LED's on the back are really bright when you use them when taking pictures or videos. In fact I cant look at them for very long, in the dark they are almost blinding. Theres also a cool little multicolored LED in the middle of the video lights which has many functions you can assign to it. The speakerphone is REALLY loud and very clear, this blows away even most land line speaker phones. I havent used the ReadyLink service because I dont know a single person with a Sprint phone besides me. The keys and screens are nicely illuminated. I like the fact that you can start the camera and place a call without even opening the phone. Another thing I found interesting was that text messages go directly to the phone instead of going to that Sprint SMS mailbox thing. You still have to go there to send a reply but apparently (according to the phone) you wont have to soon. This phone also has A LOT more memory than the other Sprint phones. All in all this phone is worth more than the price that I payed for it. I love it, and I'm positive you'll love it too.

Good service for safety

TracFone is not for everyone to be sure! For someone who is not interested in paying a monthly charge but would like to be able to use a phone in the car for safety's sake it is worth the money.

I had a bit of a problem because I messed up trying to activate the phone over the Internet. The woman who worked with me on the phone was very patient and we got it taken care of. My second adding of minutes over the Internet went flawlessly. I've been quite happy with my phone and would recommend the service to a person who currently has NO cell phone because of the high cost but won't use it more than a few times a month.
Product features:
100 prepaid wireless units, good for 60 days from activation
Local and long distance calls use 1 unit per minute, roaming calls use 2 units per minute
Nationwide service, compatible with all TracFone handsets
No contracts, bills, credit checks, or activation fees

Great great phone, even better service

This is a great phone. I upgraded to this from a Nokia 3360 on the AT&T network. Needless to say i will never leave Nextel. Their Direct Connect feature is amazing, crystal clear, even when using nationwide direct connect (From New York to Nevada)! Love Java apps and polyphonic ring tones. Only one complaint about the phone is that the screen is a tiny bit small but, hey, it still deserves all 5-stars! Nextel has great customer service and very good mobile web. Their customer rep call back feature works like a charm, i received a call within two minutes from submitting the request. Whether you get this product off or somewhere else, you cannot go wrong with this phone. It's one rock-solid product

Voice-activated dialing
Speakerphone function for hands-free calling

If it's not for the rebate , this phone is really not worth the money. With phones that are free after rebate and some that you can get CASH BACK. This phone does not have digital camera ability and hence restrict the use of VISION package provided by Sprint. My advice for all those whom wants to have this newest toy. ... Buy this phone only if you have never have a palm pilot before and does not know what to expect from the palm pilot! The flap on the phone can be very annoying when you are using a ear piece, it tends to get in the way!
P.S. I am NOT saying I do not like this phone, I'm saying IT IS NOT WORTH the money!!! My husband has the same phone and loves his!
EXPENSIVE ACCESSORIES - example, The stupid case that came with the phone is worthless, spend another $29.99 and you get yourself a decent holder ; It does not come with the car charger like most phone do, it is yet another $39.99 to purchase this ; Hands-free ear piece will cost you $15.99 or more! DO YOUR MATH, ADD THE FIGURES UP!

awsome fone man!

After having a Motorola V60i, I was concerned about changing, but have no remorse at all. The VX6100 is quite an impressive package. All the features operate perfectly, the audio is very good, and the speaker surprisingly clear for it's size. Volume is very loud, if needed. I was concerned about not having a metal case like the V60i, but this one seems quite durable. The antenna does not extend, but I don't seem to notice much difference in signal except, maybe, in very fringe areas. It's not likely to break off if abused since it is quite heavy duty. The camera is a treat. Get one and enjoy!

Built-in camera with zoom control and 3 resolution adjustments
Compact, attractive clamshell with full-color screen
31 ring tones plus vibrating alert

Finally, a Windows Mobile superstar!

This phone is amazing. It's quite small, very flexible and has surprisingly long battery life. I use it primarily for calls, to read (not write) email, surf mobile-friendly websites and keep my calendar up-to-date. Sound quality is solid. Love that you can get a 512 MB miniSD memory card and load this up with songs, pix and vids. Probably wouldn't recommend this phone to hardcore phone-gamers due to the non-joystick.

The fact that this has Bluetooth is huge. Gives you lots of headset/accessory options, plus you can get very compact (foldable) travel keyboards that connect via Bluetooth.

If this phone had 802.11 WiFi (it doesn't) it would be ridiculous. As it stands, it represents a huge leap forward in smartphoneland.

It works pretty well for its cost

I have been using this phone for an year. Came to Amazon to hunt for a new one. Overall its a pretty good phone. The reception is great compared to others like Motorola. The keyboard takes sometime getting used to. One of the main problems was the "Sim Card Not Ready" message. I had to reinsert the sim card a couple of times. Also, its not a tri-band.But other than that Nokia has done a pretty good work on this phone. I would reccomend it to anyone who is looks for a normal no frill phone that is easy to carry in you trouser pockets (not shirt).-C

Decent phone, great price

After reading all the bad reviews, I bought this phone because it was -$200. Bottom line, that really helps lower T-Mobile's bill over the next few months. First off, the phone isn't really all bad. Bluetooth, infared, nice little screen, joystick, and comes with a Windows software CD to sync your Outlook contacts. I've experienced no freeze or signal problems whatsoever in Dallas/Fort Worth Texas area.

Of course, phone has many downsides: The power plug is the worst design ever. It's two plastic WIDE plugs with a metal contact between them. You must forcefully jam the plugs into your phone and hear a snap as it barely fits in. Only a matter of time before one of those plastic plugs breaks off and gets stuck in the phone, since pulling it out requires a lot of force. Also the headset is a non-standard propietary clip-on that snaps in hard like the charger. Why can't they just use a standard style plug? Camera quality is also really poor, I wouldn't recommend sending pics to anyone.

Would I pay real money for this phone? No. But a price of -$200 sold me. Getting Outlook sync, decent screen, bluetooth, infared for that price made the phone a good purchase for a year's use. Then I'll switch to something superior in late 2005.

Frustrating good

This is a phone/PDA. It is NOT a camera, MP3 player or any of the other things that some people seem to want today. It is old Palm technology but it is still useful Palm technology. I never thought I would use a handheld to browse the web but there are a surprising number of site enabled to handle the small screen. The great thing about convergence is that I only have to keep my phone numbers in 1 place. There are a few annoyances such as no NIB support for text messaging and no expansion slot. Which is frustrating because everything else is so well done. One word of warning, you will need both of the batteries that come with the phone because this device is so darn useful that you will be using it for non-phone stuff so much and you won't get near the advertised battery time
