Nokia 6820 Phone - Next Generation (AT&T)
WoW

This may lack Smartphone features but it's loaded with Smart ideas

This phone is like a mini office on the go. Entering data and text is no longer a chore. The qwerty keyboard feature is what sold me on this phone. The phone is loaded with other features not noted by the other reviewers.

Use the joystick and navigate....

>Menu>Applications>Collect ion>Select application

Here you will find 3 useful software programs:

ConverterII: use to converts most temps, weights, areas lengths, volumes & currencies

PortfolioII: use to enter investment info

World clockII: use to find worldtime using a map

Next Feature.....The ALARM CLOCK will wake you up. It's easy to set. It's loud and the light bars on the keypad flash brightly.

The light bars are actually bright enough to illuminate a soft glow of light that is usefull for opening doors in the dark.

The qwerty keypad has a backlit button.

The camara is a low resolution unit and pictures are grainy. However, set the image quality to high and these pictures are suitable for emailing and inserting into projects.

Some things I don't like about this phone:

1. The screensaver is stupid! It's a black screen with the time.
To date there are no downloadable screensavers available.

2. The screen resolution is not optimized for graphics, pictures are pixalated and some wall papers block phone info on screen.

3. This phone is really small..I wish the screen was a little bigger.

4. Non expandable memory shared by graphics and data.

Overall it's the best phone I ever owned. AT&T service has been great so far and Amazon was super fast in sending the phone out it was ready to use on arrival. Thanks

Hitachi G1000 - best all-in-one

The first reviewer summed up great features. I have 10,000 contacts from my ACT; good news, all fit into contact list including most recent notes; bad news, phone freezes 5-10 times per day tho soft reset quickly puts it back in action. Negative is that one cannot do one-hand dialing as on a plain cell phone. I have not learned to use the voice dialing features. The Hitachi PDF manual is 254 pages very long. Also I cannot find where to buy a second cradle and power supply

Great Phone/PPC - Terrible Customer Service

I have this pocket PC-Phone from about 1 year and I love it. It is a great pocket PC and a good phone with excellent integration. The battery life is pretty good. Also the speed of wireless data transfer is good. I am able to receive my e-mail and even open my attachments! If you want to buy one you need to look for T-mobile coverage. Unfortunately it is available only in some areas.

Problems with reception, menu and some functions.

The phone seems to work well at times but poorly at other times. Incoming vioce fades in and out in my home. Outside of my home I often here echos or buzzing sounds in the background. The ringer doesn't work in the AM until I check the volume. It is always up but until I actually push the increase volume control the ringer stays silent. I was able to set it to vibrate so at least I can feel the first call of the morning just in case I forget to check the volume. The earphone is difficult to hear even with the volume at maximum. It is difficult to navigate around the menu. The message service tells my customers "You are being transfered to an automated ansewering system." This is annoying to callers who often hang up rather than wait for my message followed by the beep. Had I known this prior to signing up I would not have selected a Nextel as my cellular co..

Disappointed with the quality

I've had this for almost a year now and its not upto the expected quality.

Its very slow in retrieving numbers from the memory and things like that when compared to Nokia which is much faster. Also not very user friendly.

The pictures are not very sharp or good enough and I had to buy a digital camera after I bought this phone.

Overall, not very pleased as there are better phones in the market.

Not What I Expected

Referring to the comment about all the little extra charges made by another reviewer, for the extra $15 per month Sprint charges for PCS vision and Internet access which you can start and stop at any time (beginning with a free two-month trial period), not mentioned but included is a ten-dollar per month credit that can be applied toward the purchase of any of the online options, including the downloadable ringers, screen savers, games and more. This $10 credit can even be applied during the free 60-day trial period, so essentially you're getting $20 worth of extras for free during the trial period. So it isn?t nearly as bad a deal as a previous poster made it sound. Ringers range in price from 1.50 to 2.50 each and expire in 90 days. There are hundreds to choose from, and play in true music with vocals and all, not just the melody. You may have seen Sprint's TV commercials with the kids taking a break on the bleachers while holding dodge balls and being asked to guess how many tries they had with the dodge ball to get someone out without going over, or else it would be a waste... the advertisement for Sprint's new Fair & Flexible plan? I signed up for this plan and am very pleased with this new approach to the PCS pricing schedule (go to sprintpcs.com for more details). Essentially, anyone who signs up for this plan begins with 300 anytime minutes for $35 per month, which increases by $2.50 for each block of 25 minutes needed beyond that. If you always use a lot of anytime minutes, then this is not the cheapest plan for you. However, it can be very cost-wise if, like myself, you use 300 anytime minutes or less during some months, but in other months require 500 anytime minutes but don't want to be charged 35 cents per minute for over the limit usage. The plan includes unlimited nights and weekends for any calls made to anywhere in the USA, so you get free long distance during those times. For another $5 per month you can make your nights begin at 7 pm instead of 9 pm. Nights end at 7 am.Back to the Samsung VGA1000. This is a better than average cellphone. It includes all the latest technology. This phone is not at all difficult to learn by playing around with it and pressing buttons to see what happens. The bilingual (Spanish/English) manual included with it is compact enough for a small purse but thick enough to be very informative and is also available online. While it's true the screen is harder to see in bright sunlight, there's always shade available so it's not that big of a problem, in my experience. Dialing can be done by voice, so the screen isn't essential anyway. You can locate people in your address book by voice commands and then dial them, or you can dial direct by voice command. Here's how: Press the left arrow (left side of camera picture) then state "DIGIT DIAL" then state each number beginning with the area code. It will confirm the number you stated before dialing it. This is all done without requiring ever looking at the screen. I do not consider games a necessity for any cellphone, but the games available for this phone are good fun and great time-passers, especially if you have a charger nearby allowing you to play endlessly while keeping your battery fully charged. I enjoy the bowling game. My favorite screensaver is one of the 4 included screen savers: the calendar. It shows the entire month, outlining the current day in bold and upcoming days with appointments in blue. The screen uses the most power, but it goes into auto-dim mode after about 8 seconds, and turns itself off after another 8 seconds. So playing games, reviewing pics, etc, all use the most power. However the recharger quickly recharges and gives a green light when ready (red until then). You can buy a charger that plugs into your car?s vehicle charging port (the cigarette lighter). The camera function can be used to snap pics of your friends (or of yourself using the volume button), and store a photo of each of them with their name. You can connect to the internet and read your email. You can send photos that you take with your phone to anyone's email address, or to another vision phone, or to your included webspace for storage, enabling you to clear your photos from your camera and take a whole bunch more. You can take up to 26 high resolution photos at 19 kb each. From the share/review menu you can select to "upload this" or "upload all" photos stored in your camera. The medium resolution photos are 5 kb. The medium res. photos may seem a bit grainy if you're a true camera buff, but they are of a good enough quality to enjoy and bring back memories. And this "camera" is so tiny you can hide it in your shirt pocket and easily disguise when you are snapping a picture of someone. I have more photos of my friends than they realize! I now have many pictures of people that I would never have had without this handy little cellphone. This great new technology allows you to take and send a digital photo to almost anyone as soon as you take it. A plumbing contractor friend of mine was studying my cellphone recently when suddenly it occurred to him that his field personnel could send digital photos of hard-to-identify parts, either back to the shop or directly to the parts supplier, saving both time and money and reducing error, as most unknown parts that need replacing are described over the phone. A picture is worth a thousand words, and maybe a few dollars as well.

Cingular is terrible

The phone looks cool and all but if you're going to use Cingular beware, especially if you're a former AT&T customer which was swallowed by Cingular. Besides the trouble I had migrating my numbers on my family plan (at one point Cingular had me as dead and I had to physically go into a store and prove that I was alive). Now I am attempting to add a 5th phone to my family plan (you are allowed 5 phones on a plan)and they won't let me do it without me putting a $200 deposit for one year. With AT&T I never paid late-I never paid late with Cingular-but they can't explain to me why they arbitrarily now need a deposit. If you can go with another company DO IT. Cingular's customer service is the worst.

Fundamental quality leaves something to be desired.

The engineers of this phone definitely thought of everything as far as added features are concerned. This phone has magnificent features. The screen color is brilliant and very bright except in the sun. It has bluetooth. It has AIM. It takes the best pictures I've seen from any phone. It records videos. It's so easy to use. I'm going to cry the whole way to the store to return it. If you can't make calls on it then it defeats the whole entire purpose of having the phone. This phone definitely has some fundamental issues. I have been using this phone for 30 days. It continuously drops calls on me. In a call (from my land line) to the Cingular agent, I was told that it was dropping calls yesterday because they were working on the sytem. What about the four days before that when it had the same issues? My sister, who is on Cingular network, doesn't have any of these issues that Cingular is claiming to be network wide. I haven't been able to make a call longer than 10 minutes that didn't get dropped. The battery life on this phone is absolutely the worst of any I've ever seen! If you make more than two calls per day on it or if the inside screen gets activated more than four times then it has to be charged daily! I'll miss the features but it will be nice to have a solid 10 minute conversation again.

Quad-band GSM phone with built-in Bluetooth
Integrated VGA camera with 4x zoom and video capture
MP3 ringtone capable

DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!!!!

I bought this phone because T-Mobile didn't offer the v60 in my market. I was just looking for a flip phone that had external caller id. I wasn't really thrilled with the looks or the external camera attachment (which I may have used once).
I have had this phone replaced three times, each one having a different, unique problem.
The first one would not take a charge, either from my home or car charger;
the second one would turn off if I closed it too quickly (or whenever it felt like);
the third one would phase out display items on the exterior LCD screen.
T-Mobile and Motorola both helped me with the resolution to my ongoing ordeal with this phone. I now have a v600; I am so happy with this phone! I think it is available with most major carriers. Please read the reviews for the v600 phone. DO NOT BUY THE T722i UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!!

My super new phone

This is a great phone. I reset the left and right button to be video camera and still photo. Reset the resolution to high for good pictures. Now use the infrared to downoad to the PC and email to your friends. I also reset the background image and downloaded tons of free games (regular and java) and more than 80 songs and set them as my ring tones. Added all those images as tags for my contacts. It does take me a while before I tracked down a transparent cover with clip ... and a crystal keypad ... You can also compose music, use your phone as a remote control (download that - free), to-do list, e-mail, etc.

Wireless phone with integrated video/digital camera
