Motorola V710 Phone (Verizon Wireless)
This phone is great!

I switched from T-Mobile to Verizon because I wanted to have good reception both at home and work in addition to being able to use my phone on the Metro. Indeed, I am happy with it! (which is the point of owning a cell phone-being able to make and receive calls when we want!)

My husband actually has the same phone, which he has had since last November. After comparing these two identical phones, we have noticed that the one I have takes better digital pictures and the battery lasts longer before I need to charge it. Overall, I am happy with this phone. It is great!

Product features:
Integrated 1.2 megapixel camera, video capture and playback
Integrated MP3 player
Integrated Bluetooth for hands-free, eyes-free talking
Integrated speakerphone
Buit-in 10 MB memory and SD-compatible removable memory slot

great besides reception problems

I have a relative that owns this cellphone. Well one day she and I drove about an hour from my house. To go to another family members house. Well we were driving about 10 mintues and started going through woods, and she lost receptions! My cellphone was fine. We went to the store where she had bought it. To ask why it did that. The cashier said this perticular cellphone. Had bad reception out of our city. But she refused to believe her and couldn't figure out why this happened. Well after that day she traveled alot. She said she would lose reception often. But besides that. This cellphone is pretty good. The two changeable faceplates are really cute. Plus you have games, text messaging, access to extras and more! I think it's a great cellphone. Though the reception in my area is pretty bad. I don't know how it is in other areas. But if the recpetion is good in your area. I would definatly recommend this cellphone!

Virgin Mobile Is The Way To Go For Prepaid Cell Phones!!!

Virgin Mobile is the best prepaid service provider. TracFone is just HORRIBLE (minutes go as high as $.50 a minute and text messages are $.30 each and I think you have to pay to receive text messages with TracFone. With Virgin Mobile, its $.25 a minutes for the first ten minutes of the day and $.10 a minute after that. Text messages are $.10 to send and free to receive. A lot of content is available at for putting on your phone (ringtones, celebrity voicemail greetings, MTV and Comedy Central Content, and a lot more). You only have to play $20 every three month which is A LOT cheaper than most cell phone service providers. And best of all, NO CONTRACTS!!! Virgin Mobile is the way to go for prepaid phone service.
Product features:
Good for $30.00 worth of airtime
Calls are 25 cents a minute for the first ten minutes each day, each minute after that 10 cents
Voicemail is included; so when you check your messages from your cell phone, you only pay for airtime
No monthly bills, no long distance fees, and no roaming charges
No activation fee or credit check

easy and light

I bought both the hS820 and a jabra BT200. I am keeping the Motorola and sending back Jabra. I have a Nokia 6630 phone. Both devices paired well with it, but the sound was much better with the Motorola, as well as light on the ear. My range is not 30 feet, but I am rarely that far away, as I like to know who's calling before I pick up the line.
Product features:
Simply turn the headset on, place it on your ear and a Bluetooth® link is automatically established
The multifunction button allows you to place, receive or end calls, all with the push of a button!
With Bluetooth wireless technology, devices work together even up to 10 meters (30 feet) away.
The overall compact size and lightweight (less than 20g) allows for easy storage when not in use
Lengthy talk and standby times include up to 6 hours of talk time or 100 hours of standby time from a single full charge

Motorola V551 Phone (Cingular)
UPDATED: Okay phone - bad Bluetooth implementation and OS

I just purchased this phone to replace a Nokia 3650. Good in many respects listed below, but one thing I find incredibly wrong-headed about the design is this: the phone comes with Bluetooth and it is iSync compatible, it just isn't iSync compatible THROUGH Bluetooth - you have to buy a data cable!! What is the point of even having Bluetooth if you can't even carry out a simple function like data syncing?

1. Nice loud speakerphone
2. Good fit and finish
3. bright screen
4. loud ringtones
5. smart button placement

1. Unnecessarily convoluted interface. It shouldn't take four button pushes to take and store one picture
2. Bad photo interface - no way to fill entire screen with photo, severely limited resizing - no way to blow up picture beyond full size
3. Syncing address book and calender on Macs is impossible without data cable
4. Batch transmission of photos through Bluetooth doesn't work. Photos can be selected for transmission in groups but must be manually sent one by one. Annoying and time consuming.
5. Picture quality not even remotely as good as on the Nokia
6. Photo software does not have ability to rotate picture.

It is only because this product functions so well as a phone that I give it three stars. It has terrific reception and sound. But the interface is mess, requiring far too many button pushes to accomplish even the simplest tasks. Also, paying for Bluetooth functionality on this phone is a waste of money if you use a Mac. Especially since Nokia extends Bluetooth functionality on its phones to all of their phones' vital features, not just some of them.

I suppose in a more fair scoring system I would give the hardware on this phone five stars, and the software only one star.

UPDATED: After owning this phone for a little over a month, the earpiece has stopped working. I can only make and receive calls over the speaker phone. A replacement phone is on the way. Meanwhile, I am back to using my Nokia 3650, which I now realize has an infinitely superior operating system, and the picture quality isn't even in the same ballpark. The Nokia produces about the most crisp and vibrant picture that can be expected on a low res camera, while the Motorola pictures are, by comparison, washed out and fuzzy. And again, the Nokia operating system is sleek, intuitive and a breeze to use, making the Motorola look like the convoluted mess it really is. At this point, the only real advantage the Motorola has is its size. I regret buying it. I'll probably give it to my wife, who doesn't care about Bluetooth or any of the phone's extra features.
Product features:
Quad-band GSM phone with built-in Bluetooth
Integrated VGA camera with 4x zoom and video capture
MP3 ringtone capable

T-Mobile Color Sidekick Phone (T-Mobile) the handheld, but the service is...

I just bought the Sidekick a few days ago and I was very excited to see what it could do. I heard a lot of good things from friends and family about its capabilities, so I decided to give it a try. I own a cellular phone with another provider and I'm happy with their service so I only got the data option on the Sidekick. The concept on the handheld is great. You can surf the web, chat on AIM, send and receive e-mail, create to-do lists, and a host of other options. However, I was not satisfied with the T-Mobile service. Four minutes into any conversation I was having on AIM, my connection would get lost, leaving me to sign on again and again. Signing back on was no piece of cake, either. This process was very inconsistent. At times it would take a matter of seconds to get back on AIM. At others, I got frustrated looking at the "connecting" signal move back and forth and simply stopped trying. The internet browser was the same. I wasn't expecting much in terms of speed because it is a handheld, but once again, I found myself frustrated each time the connection was lost-and that happened frequently. I am definitely going to take advantage of T-Mobile's 14 day trial offer. I love the handheld, but the service is terrible.
Product features:
Important note: It's required that you add the Sidekick Unlimited Data option to your service plan before you check out.
To add the required option, you must add the Sidekick and a service plan, and then on the Accessories page, you need to select the Sidekick Unlimited Data option located under Service Options (this option is located on Step 3 in the checkout process)
The T-Mobile Sidekick is the ultimate communication device
A large color screen that flips open to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard makes for quick and easy communication
Stay connected with all your friends with unlimited e-mail, AOL Instant Messenger, Internet browsing, text messaging and mobile snapshots
