Sony Ericsson P800 Phone - Next Generation (AT&T)
P800 has everything you need.

I have this phone using the T-mobile service. The coverage is very good. I never had a dropped call. There are WAY too much features on this phone than all the NEWER pda phones out there. I upgraded my memory stick DUO from 16 mb to 128 mb. I can listen to over 3 hours of mp3 music while browsing the web site with this thing with the built in speakerphone. One of the favorite things about this phone is that it has voice command feature. You can store all your friend's names and just say his/her name and it connects you. Also you can take a picture of your friend with the comminicam and use it in the contacts to see who is calling you. You can also program a "magic word". after saying the magic word, you say your friend's name and it connects you. Hands free. This thing also has blue tooth, so you can use wireless earphones. The touch screen feature is cool. open it up, use the provided probe to open files and write letters. Use the voice memo to create your own ring tones. My next phone would be a p900.

good, inexpensive phone.

I have own the Sanyo cellphone for a month now, and it has been a horrible month for me to use this cellphone. Voice transmitted is distorted and therefore whenever somebody calls me, I have to put the cellphone very close to my ear, listen to the mumbling voice and make a guess on each word, and it hurts my ear after I make a five minutes short conversation. I have adjusted the receiver level to the highest level, but it does not help.
I will not buy a Sanyo cellphone anymore and I will try to sell this cellphone as soon as possible.

flimsy, flimsy!

Upon researching this phone endlessly I knew that I was taking a risk upon purchasing it. First (which is really a non sequitur)the packaging and accessories are inferior to what Motorola had issued overseas, and perhaps that is an issue with Cingular and not Motorola. The phone's design is smooth and post modern, truly ahead of its' time. The sound quality was excellent,as was the speakerphone. That is about all of the redeeming qualities that I surveyed on this phone.

Motorola and Cingular should really be ashamed that they issued such a beautiful phone at such a very hefty price tag with inferior options to its' predecessors. Because of its' design the memory is low, thus the sacrifices are made in the form of a low quality camera w/o video recording options. It also includes far less ringtones than most phones, and background photos.Such important desktop items
like the calendar is buried and one must negotiate their way into it (which can probably be changed in my defaults now that I think of it). While the keypad is indeed striking, it is not very functional being that it is completely flat hence, if you are not paying attention you may hit the wrong numbers, but that is a small complaint.

If one is inclined to purchase this phone simply because of the design, then go for it. However, if you're trying to get value for your dollar, wait until/if Motorola improves this phone.

Sleek, Chic, and Cute

I just bought this phone this past Friday to get ready for school. I can't wait to show it off. I'm almost 14 and I used to have the Party Animal. My friends thought I was still in the 20th century. It is a sleek phone with cute wallpapers. I especially like the Pinky one. I saved my $100+ to get this phone. I got it at Wal-mart for $98! My Party Animlal is going to my aunt. The coverage is good. Lost a few bars here and there. The thing I would change is the wallpapers, like downloading them. I love the external CID. My mom is actually jealous of me! I'll be showing my friends this cool new phone.

Motorola V505 Phone - Next Generation (AT&T)

Great deal, great phone, too bad you cannot get it activated! Since AT&T was bought by Cingular, you need to get new activation from Cingular; this phone comes with an AT&T SIM card. So when you try to activate it it will not work and Cingular has to send you out a different SIM card.

When the SIM card arrives and you put it in your phone you learn that the phone is locked to AT&T, and even though Cingular owns AT&T they tell you that the phone will not work with Cingular. Then when you tell them you got it at Amazon they chuckle and tell you that was your first mistake that people have trouble all the time with Amazon.

So unless you know how to unlock the phone, you are out of luck and in for a lot of frustration.

Don't Use T-Mobile

I use T-Mobile for my Blackberry and the service provider has proven to be less than reliable. On a recent trip to Europe, the unit malfunctioned and I was forced to purchase services ordinarily paid for with T-Mobile. They have no international phone support number on their web site. Upon my return to the US, the only compensation provided by T-Mobile was a replacement unit. I had to fight with five different support reps to get $15 in express shipping and $20 credit to my account for outage and $35 in minutes. $70 compensation for over $200 expenses and the inconvenience of missed appointments due to phone outage. Proves to me that T-Mobile does not stand behind its service.

Picture Quality is REAL BAD !!!

I bought this cell phone because I am from JAPAN and expected the same quality as Japanese advanced technologies in this cell phone.

The picture quality is real bad. You can't choose or edit the photo much. If you are sensitive for visual, I don't recommend this phone at all.

Why does everyone hate this thing?

I have been using cell phones since before (the now defunt) AT&T Wireless was around, that was 1992 or so. I used an analog phone at the time and then switched to PrimeCo (before they became Verizon Wirless) and then SprintPCS. Up to that point I had no complaints about phones -- some had a better UI than others, but they pretty much did the same thing.

I then switched to Voicestrea(before they became T-Mobile!) because I needed the international roaming feature, and they had the best rates on the market, and I could use the same handset, wereas with the CDMA providers I would have to pay for an additional service. This is were my cell-phone fun began. T-Mobile service was not bad at all, but I don't think that in the 2 or 3 years I was with them I was ever satisfied with my phone -- the volume was too low, the speakerphone was a joke, the phone was too big, reception was horrible, it kept on dying, etc, etc.

I then switched to Nextel because I was tired of the billing errors involved with handsent replaments (out of warranty fees -- when the phone wasn't even 3 months old, re-stocking fees for phones I "didnt return" according to T-Mobile, etc, etc). I have been using this phone since late October or early November 2004 and I am glad to say I have had no major problems. The reception is great no matter where I go (I travel incredible distances in the state of Florida alone -- 15,000 miles since January, and that's just by car), the speaker and speakerphone are loud enough, and the phone is a decent size. In addition I can take the SIM card out of the i730 and place it in my GSM world phone for my trips to Europe, although the Nextel rates are a bit higher, they are about the same as what AT&T used to charge, and what Cingular charges today.

Another great feature on this phone (and all the Nextel Java-enabled phones if I am not mistaken) is the navigation function provided by TeleNav. Not only can it tell me how to get to point B, it also has a business finder, based on my current location as determined by the GPS reciever that is built into the phone, but it even has a handy "Gas by Price" function, although it only can sort the listing by lowest prices on regular or 87 octane gas, which I cannot use in my vehicle, it will display the prices for premium or 93/91 octane gas as well.
Product features:
The i730 comes with a new 65k color display with enhanced clarity that allows you to customize your screen with downloadable wallpapers, adjustable color palettes, and choice of three font sizes
Hands-free cellular conversations are always available with the built-in speakerphone
Set your phone and instantly connect to the last Direct Connect call or an assigned contact by pressing the PTT button from the main idle screen
Comes with a powerful datebook that allows you to book meetings, plan events, and set alarms that will automatically turn-on the phone if needed
Phone can store up to 600 contact entries - Store up to seven numbers for a single name
