Motorola i730 Phone (Nextel)
Motorola i730 for Nextel

This is my first foray with Nextel. I have had service with cingular(w/Motorola accompli 009),verizon(w/Motorola t720)and a short-lived stint with t-mobile(w/motorola v300). Out of all the phones and services,Nextel is the best for me. The phone is fantastic. Beautiful color screen and a very nice platinum outer finish. Its bigger than my previous phones, but it fits nicely to my ear and the phone feels more durable. I was please to find out this phone has a one touch direct connect, which is a real cool feature. The speaker is real loud-much louder than my boyfriends i95cl, and I can honestly say the earpiece has better reception (RF). Also the telenav feature is a very nice touch,I recently moved to Seattle and its helped me out tremendously. This phone is also feature-rich(JAVA,airplane mode, voice notes, datebook, the ability to give diffrent ringtones on your contacts etc..) I highly recommend this phone to anyone, but I wish it had a status light.
Product features:
The i730 comes with a new 65k color display with enhanced clarity that allows you to customize your screen with downloadable wallpapers, adjustable color palettes, and choice of three font sizes
Hands-free cellular conversations are always available with the built-in speakerphone
Set your phone and instantly connect to the last Direct Connect call or an assigned contact by pressing the PTT button from the main idle screen
Comes with a powerful datebook that allows you to book meetings, plan events, and set alarms that will automatically turn-on the phone if needed
Phone can store up to 600 contact entries - Store up to seven numbers for a single name

Kyocera K9 Prepaid Phone (Virgin Mobile)
not satisfied

The problem with Virgin phones is they use the Sprint network. It's highly unusual that I don't get a dropped call or someone complaining that I'm cutting out real bad. I work very close to the Sprint campus and tower. I can't even stand outside in the parking lot and call across the street without the other person saying I'm cutting out. Don't be a sucker--choose a better phone.
Product features:
Dazzling blue backlighting
Palm-friendly size and shape
2-way text messaging
Download actual song clips
Built-in flashlight and 3 pre-loaded games

This phone is great!

Ok -- What I like in a phone are good call quality; long battery life; and ease of use. This phone has all those things! Then, when you add in the more fun than professionally usable camera and camcorder PLUS the capability to view Office files (need to purchase software) and to view good quality videos on your phone + BLUETOOTH + SPEAKERPHONE.....wow!

The price is too good to be true also. You always think something might be wrong when looking at such a deal but I can't see it. I can only think that Audiovox is wanting to gain a foothold on the big electronics players and being price competitive and building a solid phone is how they are going to do it.

.....A flip form factor might be nice....but really that's just being picky.
Product features:
World's smallest Windows Mobile Smartphone
Call, email, text message or instant message - all from one integrated phone
Email, contacts and calendar sync seamlessly with your PC
Built-In CMOS VGA Camera with Camcorder

Great Little Phone

Nice little phone. I find the sound quality to be very clear. To the reviewer who said all their calls sounded like the person to whom they are talking had swallowed a bag of marbles I would have to suggest they take it back to Sprint for a replacement. The only thing I would avoid purchasing is the "Voice Command" service at $5 a month. It actually takes you longer to call using the Voice Command service than it does using the voice dialling already built into the Phone. I love this phone. And the camera actually takes decent pictures.

VGA camera features auto-focus lens, zoom capability. flash and 640x480 resolution
Dual LCD/TFT displays offer crisp images in 65,000 colors

Piece of Garbage

This phone, which is for little teenagers, is a piece of garbage. Not one month after I bought it, the screen shorts out everytime you close the fliptop. When you open it back up, the screen is just black. I couldn't even get a new one because I didn't buy the rip-off warranty.

Very decent phone

Okay, Nokia has been sort of shelved aside in this new age phone market but I think this phone is good. Light and comfortable (very unlike Nokia) it fits into your pocket easily. It is wap enabled although surfing is a drag. It uses SyncML via WAP to sync contacts and calendar. This is a bad idea especially as only one company (fusion) offers the service, so choking you to pay exhorbitant fees...to sync your contacts or calendar. And there is no data cable option! Was it too much to ask for data cable and sync software? Removing the infra red was a bad move. This used to help me sync up my other nokias with my PC or other devices. Yet, I am sold by the weight/size convenience and the keys have got to be the sweetest phone keys I have pressed. Plus the battery is smoking! Talk for an hour and your haven't even lost a dot on the indicator.
Product features:
Send and receive messages with image, sound and text
Synchronize your phone book, calendar and to-do list with your PC
Phone book with up to 500 contacts, with up to 5 numbers and 3 text entries per contact
Personalize your phone with 8 different color schemes
Calendar with up to 500 entries

low volume, annoying speaker phone, poor reception

I seem to be in the minority in loathing this phone, but I want to address the things I hate (maybe these aren't important issues to the others, so they don't mind the phone overall):
1) The volume often does not go loud enough, regardless of whether you are using the speaker phone, regular speaker, or an ear piece. For example, when driving down the highway with the radio off, I have had to strain to hear the other person (this may also be a function of poor reception; see below). I am not the only person who feels this way (check out the CNET.com user reviews). Since this is fundamental to the utility of the phone, I would advise anyone interested in this phone who has questionable hearing to only purchase from a source with a good return policy in case you also find the volume deficient.
2) You cannot turn on the speakerphone until after the call connects.
3) The button to turn on/off the speakerphone is not dedicated for that functionality, and it is not specially offset from the other buttons. So I can be talking on the phone, and if another call comes him, the meaning of the button used to turn speakerphone on and off changes. The speakerphone button also has different meaning when you are in voice mail, which can be a pain when you want to turn off an embarrassing message quickly so others don't hear it on the speakerphone.
4) I used to have Verizon service. When I retrieved voice mail, the voice mail indicator went away on my other phone. With T-Mobile, there does not appear to be any link between listening to voice mail and making the indicator go away, which forces you to go through more steps.
5) Reception is bad in buildings. I have incredibly bad reception in my own house, and no reception in the grocery store in Columbus.
6) This may be a function of T-Mobile more than the phone, but reception can be sketchy even in a metropolitan area.
7) Despite what T-Mobile coverage maps indicate, I have had bad coverage outside of major metropolitan areas (e.g., between Findlay and Columbus). Even along major highways (e.g., I-70 between Springfield and Columbus) I have had bad reception.
8) Regardless of whether I use the speakerphone, I get complaints that there is "wind noise" when I am outside, even when there is no wind.
Product features:
Tri-band GSM capability
Large color display features 65,000 colors
Built-in VGA camera with zoom
Supports text messaging and wireless Internet (WAP 2.0)
Comes with 35 ringtones and supports MIDI and MP3 formats

Great but...

Overall, I'm thrilled with this phone, because it excels at the 2 criteria that are by far the most important to me: pocketability, and reception/voice quality. I've been very happy with T-Mobile, too,Worst drawbacks to me:
- Clock isn't automatically synched to cell towers, and loses ~3 minutes/month.
- Lack of easy porting of Outlook contact info
- Inability to store notes on the phone. Only way to do this is to text message yourself, but can't put a subject on the text message, just an automatically assigned 3-digit number.I like the vibrate before ring mode, but would prefer vibrate, then vibrate & ring. WAP's too slow, small and cumbersome for me to bother with. Voice activated dialling would be nice, but speed dial does the job. A non-fancy (ring-ring) ring tone would have been nice, too.YMMV depending on your needs, but for me, I'd buy it again in a flash.
Product features:
This sporty little model is as fun as it is stylish
Large color screen (65,000 colors)
Download MegaTones from the hottest bands
WorldClass international phone (dual band: 900 & 1900 MHz) for travel in over 100 countries
