Kyocera K7 Rave Phone (Virgin Mobile)

This was one of the first cell phones I ever had. It has all the basic features and Virgin Mobile Pay As You Go plan. I recommend looking into the other great phones Virgin Mobile has to offer. For a little more you can get the k9 Rave phone, which I think is a lot better or i recommend saving up for the v7 Flasher Camera Phone. You won't regret it!

Good Style for Price, Typical Motorola Phone

When it comes to buying a cell phone, most people look for several different attributes: battery life, ease-of-use, style, extra features, and price. This phone does well on 4 of these 5, as listed below:

Battery life: On a single full charge, I have found it to last about 2 days with moderate usage (about 4 hours of talk time). Other phones can last longer, but if you have a charger at home, just put it on the charger before you go to bed and you'll be fine.

Ease-of-Use: Button speed and navigation through the menus are both cumbersome and slow. This is nothing new to Motorola phone users, though, as this has been a problem for as long as I can remember.

Style: Gorgeous phone. Rubber back and sides keep the phone from sliding around and prevents scratching. Front gray metal can scratch easily.

Additional Features: Bluetooth is a nice extra. Camera can take video and takes nice pictures (1+ megapixel camera). Speakerphone is loud. Games and ringtones are very few, but can download them (for a price).

Price: $99 for a nice quality phone with bluetooth and a camera. Could have easily been priced out of most people's price range (remember the Moto V60?), but a nice price tag keeps it accessible to most.

Overall, the phone is a good buy for professionals looking for a reliable flip phone. Extra features are a nice plus, but you'll have to deal with a weak interface common to all Motorola phones.
Product features:
Quad-band GSM phone with built-in Bluetooth
Integrated VGA camera with 4x zoom and video capture
MP3 ringtone capable
Features EDGE high-speed data network compatibility
Conference calling and integrated hands-free speaker

All the "must-have" features are perfect. (but...)

I own and use this phone, and overall, it's excellent. Samsung got the important features right: Size/weight, battery life, reception and call quality, etc.

All the "must-have" features are perfect. I only wish they hadn't overlooked some "nice-to-haves."

My wish list:

* [major] Give us a speakerphone, man!
* [minor] The display breaks phone numbers up at the 5th digit, so dialed numbers look like this:

* [medium] The call logs only indicate the names of friends--not their numbers. I.e., it will tell me that my friend "Joe" called, but not whether it was from his home, his office or his mobile (if I have all three in my phone book). This is especially inconvenient when it comes to using the "recently dialed calls" list.
The same problem applies to the caller ID screen that appears when a friend calls. Even with called ID, I find myself asking friends who call me, "Are you calling from home or from work?" because all my caller ID reports is that "Joe" from my phonebook is calling.

* [minor] It's currently difficult to find accessories for this phone--in part because of Samsung's questionable decision to use a completely non-standard jack for the headset connection.

I'll leave it at that. All in all, an excellent performer and a great, fun phone. But a phone at this level should have its user interface thought through a little better.

Motorola HS850 Bluetooth Headset
Works well with SAMSUNG D500, SONY ERICSSON T616,Powerbook

I used this for almost a week with two cellphones and one computer.
SAMSUNG D500 - very easy to connect. sound quality is great.
SONY ERICSSON - works well also.
Powerbook 15" Alum. I setup the headset as an output device in "SOUND preference" and listen to internet radio via Real Player. I can go as far as 10 feet away from the base device and still get excellent reception.
The quality is excellent. This is the first time I use a Bluetooth headset and I found it very comfortable to wear and non intrusive.
Price wise, it's cheapest on amazon. I checked everywhere and with shipping and tax, there isn't any where that sell this device for less then $80.
Conclusion: It is pricey to pay $80 for a headset but ... it's worth it.

Bluetooth wireless technology means that the sheer convenience of hands-free communication is enhanced with total freedom of movement.
Unfold the boom microphone, place the headset over the ear and a link will be established automatically.

Smaller Size, Bigger Power. This tiny powerhouse is less than 5 cm in diameter when folded and weighs just 20 grams.
Increased talk time of up to 8 hours and standby time of up to 200 hours.

palmOne Treo 650 PDA Phone (Cingular)

I moved over from the Motorola MPx200 and AT&T service to this phone and I couldn't be happier. Where I used to have no signal or two bars at the most, I now have a good strong signal. Integrating with a bluetooth headset was a snap. My only complaint at this point is that the sync cable that ships with it doesn't charge the device. Looks like the only way to get this is to buy the cradle for over $50...

Motorola MPx220 Smartphone (Cingular)

I Love my MPx220, It's a great phone, it's really neat, I think that the RAZER is to slim and will break easier then, the mpx220, and is much cheaper then the razor. Its Microsoft Windows based so it has many features that other phones do not. I think the MPx220 is top of the line for Cingular.
Product features:
Compatibility with Windows Mobile applications (Pocket Outlook/Pocket Internet Explorer)
64MB Flash ROM and mini-SD removable memory for extra storage
Link your phone to your PC with ActiveSync or Bluetooth

lousy battery life

For the most part, Im very pleased with the phone.. I did my research before purchasing this when my very faithful Nokia needed to be replaced. Phone has lots of features, but you must read the manual to try to figure most out.. sound quality, volume is fine.. in fact with cingular the signal strength is superb. The downside which i noticed right away was the battery life. No friggin way does this have a standby of 275 hours! My talk time total each day might be 1 hour.. if I dont charge the battery at the end of the day (overnight) it is dead the next morning. Maybe because I have 3 photos saved?? I doubt it.. I went back to the Cingular store and was told that is a common problem.. so they gave me a new battery, well it is no better. It is a pain in the butt to remember to charge it.. especially when the phone completely shuts down and will not start up unless it is charged several hours each day.. also the screen is not visible or readible at all outside on a sunny day.. cant even see the numbers on the screen to dial correctly.. forget about seeing the display at the beach!!
Over all the phone quality is great.. I mean it is just a phone not your expensive home computer! But the battery life really needs help!!

Good but fragile

I have now had two of these devices. I love the way that they fit in my ear and the convenience and compactness. They also sound good, both receiving and transmitting. The problem is that something happened in the plug of both units after a few months that rendered them useless. I was not rough on them either.
Product features:
Sensitive, uni-directional microphone delivers consistent sound no matter how you move
In-line WindUp with built-in clothes clips offers lightweight, tangle-free ease of use
Retractable cord winds compactly to fit in the palm of your hand, a pocket, briefcase or purse
EarGels channel sound into your ear for reception that outdoes your handset
With the 2.5mm Universal Jack, this headset works with most phones (except Nokia phones)

Poor Voice Quality

My husband and I have had three of these. I got mine wet while ocean kayaking in hawaii last month. I had to buy a new phone, expensive without the contract (since we already had a fairly new one). My husband washed his through the entire washer cycle with his clothes. It dried out, and with a new battery, works perfectly. Last week I dropped my (new) one from the 21st floor balcony of my Waikiki hotel to the patio below on the 6th floor. The inside screen is now worthless, which seriously diminishes the usefulness of many features, but the phone works perfectly, the alarm works (although now I cannot change my wake time!). The front screen still works to show me the current time and to identify incoming calls. Amazing! I will keep it for a while, but next time will get the insurance.
Product features:
Full feature video capture and still imaging capabilities
Superior messaging and high-speed wireless connectivity
High-speed Internet access and built-in personal planner
Built-in VGA camera with Flash
Voice Quick Dial for fast, voice-activated calls
