LG L1400i Phone (Cingular)
I really like this phone :-)

I have had my LG L1400 for a few weeks now, and I absolutely love it! I upgraded from the LG 4015. My hubby liked my phone so much, he upgraded to this phone from his Motorola T721, and is also very pleased with it.

Pros:
*nice size, lightweight (3.35 ounces), not too chunky
*love the color external screen with caller ID-even photo ID if you want
*larger internal screen looks great also
*plays real music ringtones (mp3, music tones)
*most ring tones I've downloaded sound great on this phone
*decent battery life. I recharge about every 4-5 days, and use my phone a lot.
*easy to use camera
*phone & keypad have a solid, quality feel to them - they don't "feel cheap"
*wireless internet capable - chat on AIM, check your email, browse the web with MEdiaNet subscription
*I've had very few dropped calls, and live in an area of limited service

Cons:
*cost me $130 to upgrade to this phone on Cingular
*some hard rock music tones sound distorted
*not many games out there so far that are compatible
*needs to come with a case, or at least a holster or belt clip
*it would be nice if the camera had flash
Product features:
Built-in camera with 4x zoom
65k color TFT display
Mobile instant messaging and MMS (multimedia messaging service) capable
Voice-activated dialing
Personal organizer includes calendar, calculator, alarm clock, and voice recorder

DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM

With a little more than two weeks my phone is dead with no apparent reason. I only wanted to charge but then now it's completely dead. I cannot even power on the darn thing. And with lousy verizon service you will be stuck like me. Please DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I MADE. AVOID THIS PHONE BY ANY MEANS, ESPECIALLY IF IT'S OFFERED BY VERIZON. Terrible, Terrible, Terrible. There is no other way to describe how I feel. I have never come across an electronic product that went dead after two weeks without any damage. NEVER in my life.

One other thing about verizon: I went to one of the stores and this lady tried to give me a refurbished one but then guess what? that phone did not turn on either. I wasted good one hour and half. And she said please bring the box with you and we will exchange with a new one. Today I found out that she thought I bought at one of retail verizon store. So she can only give me a refurbished one. What am I going to do with a refurbished one without any power on? Maybe they think I can just carry the dead cell phone to tell everyone how bad the phone is and how bad service I'm getting.

Anyway, until I resolve my issue, this is the most horrible experience I ever experienced with electronics. I will never buy motorola and possibly avoid verizon but at this point I have no choice.

Awful Menu - Poor Options - Many Useless Features

I got this unit as a replacement for my camera-less C61 (so I could use the same set of chargers I've accumulated over the years for Siemens phones). As far as look and feel is concerned, the CT66 is a step backwards from the C61 - I just don't like the way it looks or feels in my hands/pocket compared to the C61.

However, the biggest problem I have is with the menu system - you have to go mega-levels deep, to get to anything that I would want to set (like the alarm for instance). What does appear on the top level menus, and as single key activated items are totally useless services to me. Then, one is not given the option to re-program the single-key functions - what a piece of junk. Siemens has totally sold out to the service provider (Cingular in this case), and doesn't provide much of anything in user-friendly options... my previous-generation C61 was much better in this regard.

Stock ringtone and graphics options are junk... again, I was much happier with my C61.

At least the camera works OK... but, I still am going to have to buy a USB adapter to get the pictures off the darn thing - it should COME with a computer interface! UPDATE: I was able to buy a data cable for $9.95+SH+Tax from Cingular "on clearance" (everyone else wants about $35+SH+Tax). Cingular provided basically zero information on the product, so I had no way of knowing whether I could get it to work with the Siemans software... lo and behold, the GAMBLE WORKED! I've been able to get pictures off the device, and download files into it. Obviously, my opinion of the device has now gone up somewhat (from 2 stars to 2.5 stars); unfortunately, the WAV files I downloaded didn't work.

My "love affair" with Siemens products may be souring, after extremely good experiences with previous generation A56 and C61 products, the CT66 has turned out to be a bit of a disappointment - but, mainly due to the way that Cingular has positioned and marketed the product.

I'm happy with it.

I'm sad that people aren't happy with this phone. I've had excellent reception, battery life is awesome, it comes with cool rings, and its not so small that I lose it in my purse! I think this is a great phone.

This thing really works!

I live and camp in the western U.S. and have found this antenna to be very effective. It works either while driving down the road or while stationary, and it's not too difficult to attach it to your roof while in motion, unless it freaks out your cat when you open the window, but that's another issue.

I've tried it on three phones, two Motorolas and an LG, and in all cases it usually brings the signal up by two bars. In areas with no signal, sometimes it allows weak analog service and sometimes it won't. Having this antenna has meant the difference between analog and digital service, or between no service and analog. Even if you are getting four or five bars, when you use this it seems that your calls will get dropped less often, or never.

There are a few limitations:

1. Your cell phone must accept an external antenna. Look for a hole near the base of the phone's antenna, which is often covered with a rubber plug.

2. Many phones require an adapter to be used with this product. You will have to check with Wilson Electronics to see if this is the case. If it is, they cost about $10. Your cell phone store may also carry them.

3. This thing works because it is attached to the roof of a vehicle. You can't carry it up on a hill and hold it in your hand - you have to be in the car. I have heard of people attaching it to an old-fashioned pie tin that is attached to some PVC pipe to get it six feet higher, but personally I haven't tried this.

4. The cable between the antenna/car and your phone isn't very long, so plan on sitting in the car to use this.

Overall, I am very pleased with this because it lets me check my e-mail while camping, which means I can play hooky from my job and not get caught.

Super!

This is a phone/camera/internet/toaster-oven. I assume the toaster-oven part - after all, it does everything else. The color is great, the thing seems to have no limits. I can even make it work. This phone is delightfully intuitive. At age 63 it's not that easy to figure out this stuff, usually.
I have the T-Mobile service. Works like a charm and doesn't cost as much as I thought it would. They don't lock you in for two years, either.
Go for this one. It's an adventure!
Product features:
Wireless phone with integrated video/digital camera

Excellent Bluetooth Headset

I have used this headset with Nokia 3650 and with a usb bluetooth adapter for skype. For both use, the sound quality is very good. Recepients of my phone calls do not notice any perceptible difference between a bluetooth conversations and ones without a bluetooth headset. Although this is the only headset I've used, I believe it is one of the better ones on the market. The only negative would be the initial setup might seems somewhat cumbersome to some people. Some may find pairing up the bluetooth device and connecting the bluetooth device confusing.
Product features:
No additional phone dongle needed to enjoy 10 meters (30 feet) of range. It also works with your Bluetooth-compatible PC. And Bluetooth v1.2 gives you adaptive frequency hopping, quick connect time, and improved audio quality.
WindStop technology enables clear conversations in adverse conditions by reducing the disruptive effects of wind noise, including automobile air conditioners.
Rotating clip conveniently fits either ear, and lightweight soft foam ear pad stays comfortable even after long talk sessions.
Enjoy up to 7 hours of talk time or up to 250 hours of standby time between charges.
Call/answer button on the headset lets you conduct calls without having to pick up the phone. The Logitech Mobile Freedom Headset also supports several features built into many handsets, such as voice dialing, three-way calling, and m

An Awesome Phone

I'm a person who only wants the best, and my cell phone is no exception. I have a Nokia 6620 from AT&T Wireless and I love it. I can take 10 second video and edit it right on my phone; I can also take pictures and watch TV. I found few places where I couldn't get service on my phone, and with the allover network form Cingular I can talk to any AT&T or Cingular customer any time for FREE yup all 46 Million of us, try to beat that Verizon. The phone also runs Syrian phone OS which means you can get lot's of apps and upgrades and all this with a HUGE screen this is not one of the best phones on the market it is THE BEST PHONE ON THE MARKET PERIOD. -Andrew Kostin -- Student

Slick new toy

Setup
Nokia 6820
Laptop using Linksys usbbt100 adaptor

With the phone it is a nice handsfree option. In response to the guy that had such a hard time turning the bluetooth connection on and off you can just turn the unit off by holding the button for a few seconds.

If your phone supports the more enhanced call management features You probably want to answer the call first since holding it down while the phone is ringing rejects the call. Then while the call is in progress it just places the call on hold and continuing to hold will turn the device off and the phone will revert to standard usage with the call on hold.

Additionally many phones, especially those with Bluetooth, have the ability to define user shortcuts to phone features. One setup to minimize the hassel of connecting and disconnecting BT devices would be very handy since the BT menus are normally several menue options deep.

Really though this is a headset for someone intrested in constant wear. I highly recommend getting this or any handsfree set to fit your comfort level because if in the end the fit is uncomfy your going to have a pricey doo dad.

Range is less than 30 feet but that seems pretty standard for a headset phone combination. Both are trying to maximize battery life and the antennas are not optimally placed. 10 feet is a good rule of thumb unless you have a particuarly bad combination. With the Nokia 6820 I seem to have a comfortable range of about 15 feet. However with the Linksys blue tooth adaptor on my laptop I can walk all over my house and even to my mailbox. Somewhere on the order of 60-100 feet. Very handy if you are a voice chat user or want a quiet discreet source of music without wires at work that dosn't completely obscure your hearing.

Also if anyone is wondering the battery is Lithium Ion polymer so there should be no concern over any memory affect if you want to charge up before a full discharge. However the battery is intenal and there does not seem to be any real option for replacement. So you can only expect a life of around 400-500 charge cycles. At once a week that is a good while. At once a day you might as well just call it a year, perhaps less. It will still be working but if you are using it that hard you will also be far more aware of the slow degredation over time.

Gave it four instead of 5 for the potential problem of a short usefull life due to the battery and because the fit is not for everyone. Deffinatly something to put your hands on before laying down the money if possible.
