T-Mobile Color Sidekick Phone (T-Mobile)
I have found this product to be very interesting...

Of Course, I own the ancient Nokia 3390 But, If I had a choice... I would own this...and furthermore... T-mobile doesn't suck... I have not had any problem with them... the only time you might have a problem is if you don't pay your bill ON TIME!! Which I do, and I have NEVER had a problem with service or anything... Sure, if you wanna pay out of your nose for AT&T or SPRINT... You might as well go with Verizon -- the people who CAN'T HEAR YOU NOW! Go right ahead... In fact, I have had nothing but good things from T-mobile... Like a CREDIT LIMIT INCREASE!! and they totally suprised me with it!! Let's see Verizon, AT&T and Sprint TOP THAT!

Motorola RAZR V3 Phone (Cingular)
Phone is very nice. Cingular service is very bad.

I had this phone for a few days and I really liked it for what it is. The main advantage of the phone is the design and the size. It fits nicely in pockets and you forget it's there. Functionality is ok - you've probably already read the specs. There are phones out there that can offer more on that side though.

Here comes the bad part. Cingular service was way below my expectations. The reception and the quality was very bad. Phone calls were dropping on a regular basis. Customer service wasn't very helpful either. Eventually, I had to return the phone. Currently I use T-mobile with Motorola A630 and I am very very happy with the service. If T-mobile has good reception in your area then that is the way to go.

State of the Art

I got the Motorola T721 from a SunCom affiliate in early May. It works great, the GSM coverage is reliable, 3 to 4 bars most of the time. Stand-by time is 3 to 4 days on the Li-Ion battery. The original battery wouldn't hold a charge, but the local SunCom store replaced it without a fuss. I like the flip-phone design, large color screen, voice-dialing, traditional num-pad, and sleek styling.
Product features:
Large color screen supports up to 4096 colors (120x160 pixels)
Synchronize your Phonebook, Calendar and To-Do List
Email Text and Picture Messages
Voice Dialing, Recording, and Commands
Phone supports wireless Internet and Java downloads

Better than the LG 6100

As my wife and I were both eligible for a phone upgrade, we went to our local Verizon store. The two models which seem to be the most popular are the LG 6100 and the Samsung A670. I chose the LG because of the analog possibility and because of the speaker phone. My wife chose the Samsung because it was the smaller of the two phones.
We live about 4 miles from downtown in a semi fringe area. I could not even receive a signal at home with my Motorola 720.(my current phone). I assumed that the problem was with Verizon's network.
Well, we got home and tried out our new phones.
The LG could barely get a signal and dropped my call every few seconds. The Samsung connected easily and never dropped my call. I tried both phones in various areas of my house as well as outside the house. Consistently, the Samsung did fine, whereas the LG was next to useless.
After "playing" with the LG for a while, I realized another annoyance that I could not live with. Both the left and right sides of the phone are lined with buttons.(three to be exact). It is virtually impossible to remove the phone from a pocket or its clip, without accidently pushing one of these buttons. When you accidently push one of these while the phone is ringing , you lose the call and it is sent into voicemail..very annoying. Even if you accidently push the button while the phone is not ringing, the phone beeps and changes the ringer volume.
The Samsung only has two side buttons, both located at the top of the phone. If you grab the phone anywhere except at the top of the sides, you will have no problems. This takes only a couple of grabs to get used to.
Both phones seemed to have equal (and very good) sound quality.
The bottom line is: The next day I returned my LG phone and traded it for another Samsung A670. It is a great phone....one I can easily live with for the next two years.

POS!

This phone was garbage! AT random times my screen would just go blank and freeze and then come on a minute later. Everyone in my family has this phone (4 people) and we have had to get 3 family members new phones. Mine would say Unable to Charge when i tried to charge it. My dad's phone had about a 50% chance of dropping the phonecall when he was on the phone and my sister's backlight for her screen broke so she couldn't see her screen in the dark. I am giving the review two stars because (one star) they did replace our junky phones (with more junky V300s) and the second star, you can lock up your apps, pics, etc. The screen is legit, the camera is aight, the degree of customization is respectable, but you get what you pay for. If youre checking out T-Mobile phones, hit up the Sidekick II! $50 back in rebates for a phone that is ten times as good as the V300. But stay away from all of these triplet motorolas, everyone i know has issues with them, they are slow and defective!

Nice and functional

What is important to me in a phone is ease of operation and how long it holds charge in the battery. The battery consumption with this phone is reasonable and I normally put it on charge every 4 days. This is not bad for a phone with color screen and lit up buttons. It is easy to turn off the sound or change the ring to vibration and vice versa. There are quick buttons for that. The front display shows all the information you need without a need to open up the phone. The size is smaller than average phones. I don't care very much about the camera, but I used it a few times and the picture quality is good for a camera phone. I think this phone is in general a good choice.

I just have one personal objection to it. I normally use the calendar heavily to remind me and organize me about what I have to do. The organizer in this phone is ok but you can set notifications for at most 1 hour ahead which is normally late. I need to be reminded a day or sometimes a week in advance. This is the only thing that bothers me about this phone.

Great sound, horrible comfort

I was extremely impressed with the sound quality of this product. It works great, makes it easy for people to hear me, and me to hear others. Sadly, the headset was just extremely uncomfortable. I've used the SE HBH-30 and Jabra 250, both of which feel great. this one was painful after wearing it for about 10 min.
Product features:
Bluetooth wireless freedom
Up to 3.5 hours of talk time, 76 hours standby
Easy to use controls for volume, mute and call answer/end
Noise-canceling microphone reduces background noise
Compatible with Bluetooth devices supporting the headset or hands-free profile

Motorola V551 Phone (Cingular)
Lots of features; so-so quality

I've had this phone since Dec. 2004. The first one stopped holding a charge after about 6 weeks. I'd fully charge the phone and a little more than a day later, after no more than 10 minutes of talk time, the thing would be completely dead. I contacted Cingular and they shipped me a replacement very quickly.

The replacement phone holds a charge much better (6 days), but the battery-life indicator doesn't follow an even path. It shows a full charge for several days, then goes to 2 bars of charge, and then dead, all but skipping 1 bar.

The sound quality is about average. I like and use the speakerphone. Turns out I don't use some of the other features (Bluetooth, camera) as much as I expected.

Annoyingly often, the phone doesn't ring when I have an incoming call, even when I'm in an area with a strong signal. Instead, I get the "missed call" beep about 15-45 after the call occurred.

This is my third cell phone, and overall I like this phone better than my second phone but not as well as the first.
Product features:
Quad-band GSM phone with built-in Bluetooth
Integrated VGA camera with 4x zoom and video capture
MP3 ringtone capable
Features EDGE high-speed data network compatibility
Conference calling and integrated hands-free speaker
