very good so far but ...

this phone has alot of fine features like text messaging and
picture messaging ( "canned" is that what you call it? --
it's NOT a camera phone but has pictures like a birthday cake
to send) but the only thing that I miss from my other cell phone
is the call list only displays the time of call, not the date and
in an itemized fashion that I really miss. So, unless, there's
someone out there who can tell me if I am unaware that there IS
an itemized list, or date/time stamp, i give this phone 4 stars.
Otherwise, i would have given it 5 because I need to see the date

Don't use T-mobile if you want to keep your old phone number

My husband and I purchased a Sony Ericsson T610 and a Samsung E 105 in July 2004. We had cell phone service from Sprint PCS on a family plan and wanted to keep our existing phone numbers. We checked all the instructions on and with T-Mobile on how to purchase individual phones, switch to a family plan, and port our numbers over. When we got the phones we were successful in porting our numbers over and were very happy with both phones. Then we got two bills - one for our phone numbers from Sprint PCS, and one from phone numbers we didn't recognize and never heard of. Apparently the phone numbers assigned to the phones from were never cancelled when we ported the Sprint PCS phone numbers over. Repeated calls to T-Mobile customer service were not helpful - they told us stock answers like disregarding the bill, or that the billing cycle hadn't caught up with the customer service computers, etc. etc. etc. At about the 6th phone call to the company, a customer service rep was able to cancel the account and credit it so we didn't owe them any money for these phantom phone numbers. We were very excited that this was finally resolved and gave this rep's supervisor a glowing report. Case closed... or so we thought. We received a final bill for this account that had all sorts of adjustments but still said we owed $41.06. Two more phone calls to the company came up with nothing but assurances that this would be taken care of. One rep even scheduled a follow-up call to tell me that it went through, but never actually called. Today on the answering machine was the standard recording for code 100 (which means I didn't pay the bill). One more call this evening (October 15, 2004, 3 months after we purchased the phones initially) with me masquerading as SuperBitch got me assurances that this would be rectified in 2 hours. Well, I'm not holding my breath. We like the phones and have no problem with the account that we're supposed to be paying on. It's the account that never should have existed that's the issue. If you're in a situation like we were, make absolutely sure that whatever phantom phone numbers that existed are cancelled as soon as you port your phone numbers over. Better yet, use a different phone service.

NOT for the V66

It's very frustrating when you invest money in technology and it doesn't work. I owned the Startac for 3 years and the battery never held a charge for any amount of time. We bought 3 replacements batteries and a charging stand. With all three fully charged it was only enough power for about 5 phone calls. I am really happy with my Nokia. It's totally sweet, much better software, better hardware and best of all...I charge it every other day and it always works.Don't waste you money on this product.
Product features:
The travel charger that comes standard with your phone is required for use
Provides a convenient power solution for your home or office
Charge the phone battery in the main compartment plus an extra battery in the rear pocket simultaneously
Will charge both batteries in two to five hours
Compatible with the Motorola V60 series, V70 and Timeport P270 & P280 series phones.

Perfect for us

My husband and I have had Tracfones for about one year. It is a perfect plan for us, as neither of us enjoys talking on the phone very much and had no desire for another monthly bill. The Tracfone is ideal as long as you promise yourself you won't use it to make those "So, I'm here in the aisle at Wal-Mart ... what are you doing?" calls. My complaints are that the live customer service is AWFUL, but fortunately you can do pretty much everything on the website, and that the voicemail feature is impossible to figure out.

Simple-to-use navigation buttons and graphical screens

AT&T GSM - Some dead spots with THIS phone!

Although I didn't receive my phone free with plan (I paid cash) due to the fact I'm on the GoPhone network, I feel it was worth every penny I paid for this phone. I went into the ATT store looking for a phone which had polyphonic ringtones and a color screen. I don't ask for much, huh? I found this phone and have had it since Febuary now.My favorite features on the phone will include the polyphonic ringtones, the games available for download (I have 6 now), and of course the loudspeaker. The bad news, the headseat is very hard to get into the slot and I think I must have messed something up while popping it in because the slot no longer works. Therefore I had a regular phone or loudspeaker left to use.The covers are interchangeable. I have a whole slew which I've bought off an online auction site. They're very easy to pop on. The keypad is small, but workable. I have no problem sending text messages and email.mMode works great if you're into that. I haven't had a problem with slowed access or anything. It also has a built in alarm clock, calendar, phone book for all your friends to be in there, etc.. I do not use the IM feature because it's expensive but you can log on to AOL or Yahoo and use the feature through there a lot cheaper.Overall, great phone! Easy to use, service comptabible. Bad news, it's so small that it can get lost very easily. If you turn the ringer off and lose it, you're in trouble, LOL

Poor design means many lost calls

Good concept, but so many problems. For example - if you are on a call, it is nearly impossible to pick up another or to put the person you are talking to on hold; when you open the shell to answer a call, if you so much as touch the buttons on the side of the phone (and it is nearly impossible not to), you won't be able to pick up the call. I am unable to pick up approximately 30% of all of my incoming calls and that is simply unacceptable - and I know it is not a problem handset because they have replaced it once and other people I know with it have the same complaints. A total waste of money.

The best I've ever had

One caveat before you read further: I've only had the phone a day and a half, so if you insist on more seasoned use from a reviewer, go to the next review. But I do think I can offer some value in at least 2 areas: 1)Sprint PCS service and 2)ease of use of the phone, and its basic PCS features. I have not acquired the readylink service or used the phone for that so again, if you need specific feedback on that, look at the other reviews (or I'll update soon). However, I can safely say right now that I've never been as excited about a phone as I have about this phone.I probably don't rank up there with heavy duty phone buyers and users. This Sanyo phone is my 6th phone (my wife has had an additional 2 during that time period) and my second Sanyo. Some reviewers here go through that many in a good year! I don't have to have the latest and greatest, but I'm more than willing to pay a premium for good stuff. Though I got this phone as a replacement for another one (long story), it is well worth the price.About the only thing I don't like (and its sort of a real bummer) is the front display. Its the size of a postage stamp, which isn't a problem. But when the phone's LED has cut off, the digital time and signal strength readout is dark and unreadable unless you get some light on it. Its black on medium grey, not exactly a great contrast. I guess in the bright outdoors it might be OK, but indoors you have to twist it to get a beam of light going to see it clearly. You CAN leave the LED on if you must, but that will drain the battery. I can't truthfully say this is a minor irritation; to the contrary, it is somewhat aggrivating. However, I'm not going to return the phone just due to this. The rest of the phone is great. While, as stated, I haven't used the ReadyLink feature, I have used the speakerphone feature without opening the phone. You can set it to make calls (or answer them) without flipping the phone open. As far as I can tell, the speaker phone broadcasts your voice very clearly. I left a message this morning on my home answering machine and even my deep voice came through great. I've made a dozen or so calls, all mostly clear with no drops (truthfully, a Sanyo staple). Finally, this thing is a breeze to set up -- both for contacts and voice dial. MUCH easier than the Samsung A500 I had for only a few months. Menu navigation is now easier even than the Sanyo 5150 I had for a year and a half and liked very much. As far as battery life, I've gone a day and a half and three out of three bars are still indicated. Truthfully, this will vary and its never as good as you would like. The absolute best feature, to me, of this phone is its plastic, almost rubberized, exterior. I can firmly hold it, it doesn't slide around in my pocket, and I'm not worried about other things in my pockets scratching it. It is a little bigger than I would like, but it is very light.I would also recommend Sprint. Now, I haven't used other services, so I can't compare, but I am about as happy with SprintPCS as I've been with almost any other service of anything technical (cable, phone, sat., internet, etc.). I can't say I've had no issues come up, but they've been taken care of reasonably.I can't wait to try the Ready Link service and features. If I can only find someone to talk to!
