I Know What the Problem Is...

I received this phone as a gift and almost returned it for a regular cell phone with a contract. I'm really glad I kept it. The reception has been great and the phone is easy to use. I really like the features that allow you to track the balance and minutes used. My firm doesn't pay for mobile phones, but it will reimburse the cost of phone calls. I don't have to be distracted by trying to keep track of my minutes while I'm on a call and trying to calculate how much each call cost. No more trying to bum a cell phone off someone else or trying to find a pay phone, but, at the same time, I'm not stuck with a monthly bill. I love the etiquette feature. It allows you to use the phone without having all those loud button sounds when dialing.
Product features:
No prepaid minutes included. Comes with battery and charger
Seven changeable backlight display colors to match your mood
External Caller ID Display: know who's calling without opening your phone
2-way text messaging, 1-touch and voice dialing
Charger included for powering up

Not crazy about it.

This phone has some great features, but also some big bugs. Let's start with the good.

AIM: I got mine through t-mobile so it came with AIM. The AIM application on this phone is wonderful, and so much easier than using the t-zones AIM.

Battery Life: I have hour long conversations about once a day, and I find myself charging the phone every few days. This is acceptable to me.

Games: The games included are nice, but it's a shame it comes with demo games that you can't fully enjoy without purchasing. However, with a little bit of research, a data cable, and a few programs, I was able to download java games for my phone off the internet. It's a little tricky but worth it.

Ringtones: I actually like the included ringtones. It was very easy to download extra ringtones (for free!) as well. When I had WAP on it, I simply uploaded the ringtones to my webspace and pointed the browser to the files. Now that I have a data cable, I just use PST to upload the mp3/wav ringtones to my phone.

Notice that most the positive things about the v300 are the fun parts of owning this phone. My problem with the v300 is that it doesn't perform its basic functions as well as it should. Here are my problems with the v300:

Volume: Even when I set the call volume to 7, the maximum, I struggle to hear what people are saying. This forces me to drive with my windows up if I'm talking on the phone and driving, and I must leave crowded areas to hear a word anyone is saying.

Side buttons: As stated by most of the other reviews, the side buttons are extremely annoying. Motorola probably put them in as a convenient way to change the ring style, however, there is no lock on the buttons so the ring style is often changed right in my purse without me knowing. If the phone is on anything but silent and vibrate, a loud beep sound is made each time the keys are touched.

Dropped calls: When I first got this phone, it never dropped calls. About 10 months later, I couldn't even make it through a conversation without it suddenly losing signal and dropping calls. I don't think this is t-mobile's fault, as my mom and sister's t-mobile phones don't have this problem. I'm lucky to make it 15 minutes without the phone dropping my call.

Camera: I don't expect great quality from a camera phone, but the quality on my v300 isn't even up to par with my low camera phone standards. The pictures are grainy, often with lines all over, and don't even bother taking a picture in a somewhat dark room.

Speed: The menu has a terrible lag at times. Sometimes it experience lag while typing a text message as well--so bad, at times, that I just give up on typing it.

While I enjoy the fun features, I don't think I would buy this phone again. I will be trying to get t-mobile to update the firmware soon, and hopefully it will work a little better. I'll be sure to update my review if it works out.

Durable long lasting

I'm surprised no one has talked about how long the battery lasts. its about 3 or 4 times longer than any other cellphone I've owned. I've dropped my phone numerious times and I've never had a problem with it. Signal strenght is great. If I can figure out a way to get it to sync with my Linux Computer I would love this phone. (I've had it about a year now).

Stay away from this phone!!!

Again, stay away from this phone. I've made the mistake not to take into consideration the negative reviews that had previously been posted on this site (btw, it looks like I am the first to do a review for this phone; that's funny, I was here the day before and there were multiple other reviews for this V600) and went ahead and bought the phone. Major mistake. I got the phone Nov 22 and ever since I've been having only problems with it. I am returning it to Amazon for replacement with another phone. Not Motorola for sure. It loses the signal just out of the blue, and it won't come back to life for anywhere between 10-15 minutes and a couple of hours. If during this time I want to make a call I have to power it off and back on. I have 2 other lines with T-Mobile with different phones, and they all work in the same areas and conditions.
It also appears that Cingular (another GSM carrier which had this phone) already pulled it off the market for reasons unknown to me. I can only guess why :-)
Otherwise, nice features, it is small enough, Bluetooth compatible, takes decent photos. Too bad it can't do what it is actually supposed to do best: make and receive calls!
Product features:
Colorful customizable external display
VGA camera with 4x digital zoom
Integrated Bluetooth for wireless data connectivity
5 MB internal memory for downloadable applications, ringtones, wallpapers, and photos

not so good compared to others

I had this phone for a while with my company thru Cingular and I hated it. Constantly dropped calls, couldn't get a good signal. I switched to a Sony-Ericsson for my personal account and couldn't be happier. In the SAME coverage area, I never lose a signal or call on my Sony-Ericsson phone.
Product features:
Samsung X427 is notable for its thin profile, light weight, and large, bright color display
Includes GPRS high-speed data and Java downloadable applications
Features 40-chord polyphonic ringtones
Holds 7 hours of talk time and 216 hours of standby time
Supports wireless Internet and text messaging

cute, but choppy

I had sprint for years and got suckered into buying this by a dealer who sold both. I really wanted a new sprint phone. It took me ten tries to set up the voice mail because the call kept failing. Unfortunately I went out of town and returned one day late or I would have taken it back. There is a 14 day trial period. If you are going to switch to T Mobile, buy a cheap phone or get a free phone first to make sure it works in your area. I was told that were I work is a minimal service area, which translates to 9 out of 10 times the call will fail or cut out. This is not something ideal for your emergency phone.

Creme de la Creme

This phone is truly exceptional. I have never had a problem with my V205. With tons of features and enough memory for all my contacts it's better than a Personal Assistant. I have never had a phone with so much battery longevity either, it has only died on me 3 times in over a year. Not to mention the swivel camera allowing me to take pix with my friends not just of them!! No matter where you go the V205 is guaranteed to be the most stylish and popular cell at the party. The Creme de la Creme on any guest list!!

High speed GPRS phone with intergrated camera allows you to take and send pictures wirelessly in full color
Dual display lets you view images and text on the internal LCD and check incoming calls on the external display

Don't Buy It

I got this free from a family member who knows nothing about cell phones. It drops calls everyday. It loses the signal all the time; even when it is just sitting idle. I don't know who is worse, Nextel or Motorola. I have Verizon, but the bill is always high. I recently got T-Mobile and they are the only ones who charge long distance. I've had cell phones since 1999 (now 2005) and I NEVER paid long distance before. All of the above mentioned companies have absolutely HORRIBLE customer service. They lack severely in that area. They don't answer emails--that is, if you can find an email address on their website; they keep you on hold, and when they answer they have no idea what they are talking about or what their company sells. They don't care about you, the only care about your money. Be careful with cell phones and usage. Buyer beware.
Product features:
Motorola i530 is great for those who need added durability, and want other great features
Provides operation of phone when closed with a single key
Set your phone and instantly connect to the last Direct Connect call or an assigned Direct Connect contact by pressing the PTT button (also works for Group Connect)
Hands-free cellular conversations are always available with the built-in speakerphone
Performs in dusty environments, stands up to short drops and exposure to vibration from heavy machinery use

Dont fall under Amazon false Promises

I purchased two cell phones samsung e315 and samsung x475 and chose 2 day shipping.
