Awesome phone!

This phone is one of the best I've ever had! The design is great as are the controls. You can silence/vibrate it w/o opening it (and vice-versa). I have dropped it onto concrete before and there were no scratches and it still worked fine. I never found any bugs or errors. Service is excellent and I have yet to have any problems with it.

However, as others have stated you can't choose shortcuts- they are chosen for you. IM & text messaging are 2 of the chosen ones. Never the less, its still my favorite phone

I highly recommend this phone. I travel a great deal international/domestic and the phone worked as advertised (GSM) in New Zealand, Austalia, London, Canada, and Alaska. The only bad thing is the Motorola PhoneTools don't work on my laptop (and the drivers for it are not even MSWindows certified!). One cool feature that I discovered (that's not documented) is that my phone will automatically figure out the time zone (in the US only) and change the display. Pretty handy!

Product features:
Use the colorful customizable external display to identify specific calling groups and events.
VGA camera with 4x digital zoom, large 65,000 color display supports video playback
Integrated Bluetooth for wireless data connectivity, quad band operation allows use on GSM networks worldwide
5MB internal memory to support downloadable applications, MP3 ringtones, wallpapers, and photo storage
Handset comes with mono earbud, mid-rate charger, and battery

T-Mobile Sidekick II Phone (T-Mobile)
Awkward to use and unreliable

We've had the Sidekick II for about two months. Although my 11-year-old likes it for its buttons and Gee Whiz value, I find it very awkward to use as a phone. It doesn't have a normal keyboard, so you must flip the screen up to press the keys, then flip the screen back down to listen and talk. When you get into a voicemail situation, you have to keep flipping the screen up to "press 1 for English", etc. Very annoying.

You also must pay an additional $20 per month if you want to browse the Internet, use Instant Messaging, or even Download Fun. Otherwise, all you get is phone calls and text messaging (which is also extra). Even the non-sidekick phones let you get T-Zones for Instant Messaging as a $5.00 option.

Another gripe is that the phone is falling apart after two months of not very rough usage. The screen no longer slips into place when flipped open and the letter "A" has fallen out. It occasionally just freezes for no reason. The first phone I received froze up the first day and had to be replaced.

The battery is built into the phone, so you can't take it out to let the phone reset itself. No such thing as having an extra battery on a trip, for example.

Internet browsing is cool, but so slow you think it stopped working. I think some of the fault is just the slow connection, but the other part of the fault is that the phone seems to take a long time to actually build the web page it's trying to display.

Oh, yeah. Another problem is that T-Mobile expects you to pay $9.95 to set up your album on its web site, then 29 cents for each photo you upload to it.

The phone is too large and heavy and has poor quality voice reproduction. You can't use wallpaper and the ring tones sound terrible.

Although it looks good on paper, it isn't really ready for prime time.
Product features:
Real web browsing
Built-in camera with flash
Built-in organizer with PC synchronization
Photo caller ID
AOL Instant Messenger, text messaging, 6 MB email account

Real garbage

This phone looks really slick on the surface, in reality it is a rare piece of garbage. I had two of these phones for the last year or so and I can't wait for my contract to be over to throw this thing away and far. My biggest problem is that the phone freezes constantly. The only way to bring it back to life is to remove the battery. Sometimes it happens when phone is ringing, so you have no way to answer the call, although you see who is calling. The screen is unusable in daylight. The camera feature is embarrassing (they might have as well not included it), the quality of pictures in extremely poor.

This phone is FINE! STOP complaining people!

I have had this phone for about a year. It does NOT drop calls, it does NOT have terrible reception. Every gadget you ever own will give you problems once in a while, that is something it seems like every reviewer on amazon can not understand. I have had all kinds of cell phones (currently a motorola v600) and this one has been as stable or better than any other. The menu is easy enough to use. Text messaging is easy to use. The bluetooth is very easy to use, and I use it ALL the time with my headset. Sound quality is fine, at least as good as I've ever experienced. I also live in a basement apartment, so for me to get any reception down here (or any of my friends on any phone with any carrier) is amazing. If you are looking to save some money, and get a solid phone that does probably everything you need, get this phone. If you are looking for the phone god built, that does everything with no problems ever... good luck. YAY for this phone!

Buy it for half this price!!

I would prefer a screen on the front of the phone so I can see who is calling, and different rings would be nice, but otherwise this is a good phone. It is perfect for business (which is what I use it for). The push-to-talk feature is fantastic, but that is more a credit to Nextel. The reception on this phone is very good, better than my personal phone. And the battery life on this phone lasts for days. The menus are easy to navigate and it does not take long to learn how to use this phone. For business, I would highly recommend this phone.

one of the best phone in the market

camera. speaker phone. stereo FM radio. two places you can plug in headsets. can store 400 phone numbers. email, internet. a lot more...

Don't even listening to other viewers' words. Go do your own research.

it gets great signals. I had a samsung, i will not waste my money on that brand. Made in Korea, do they make good stuff? Go figure. Nokia company is from enrope. If you go to asia and europe, the majority of the cell phones you will see on the street is Nokia. Only stupid "Bush controled" the country use damn samsung and LG etc.

Take a look at those who gave bad reviews, they are from the midwest, southern states. Freaking farmers and corn eater. Just like those who voted for Bush.

wake up "brainwashed bush controled" people. Get out side the box.

Sony Ericsson Designers! Come to me for beatings!

I loathe this phone. I absolutely hate it. Cannot stand the damn thing. And I have no one to blame for buying it but me.

I had a Nokia 3650, which was the bees' knees. I lost it at my wedding (it's probably in the turtle pond now), and the AT&T store didn't carry 3650s any more. The only other Bluetooth phones were this and the freaky Nokia model that flips out into a keypad. I should have gone with the freaky phone, because it still had a good ol' Nokia user interface. The one on the T637 was designed by people who developed customer service plans in the Soviet Union: it's not friendly, not intuitive, and causes intestinal tumors in lab rats.

One example: I want to look up a phone number without calling it. I have to get the main menu, then go to Phonebook, then go to Manage Contact, then go to View Contact, then punch my way through to that person, then click on the person to get their number. And it's only their number! No address, no notes, none of the bits of data that make a BT-enabled phone a useful tool.

What do I get? I get two buttons that are hardwired to mMode, that's what! Attention AT&T: I do not WANT to use my cell phone to get to the Internet because it's TOO EXPENSIVE AND SLOW. Hence, I do not want two buttons on my phone that are in convenient-to-punch places and can only bring up a browser or chat client.

Avoid this mess of a phone. Get a Nokia. God knows I will as soon as I can afford a new phone.

Built-in CommuniCam digital camera

amazon charges way too much

first of all, i have owned this phone, and it's great for instant messaging and text messaging. however, web access is pretty slow, so if that's your main reason for buying, i suggest you look elsewhere. the camera is bad too, even by camera phone standards.
