A return to the old 8500

If you remember the old 8500's, then this phone will seem familiar. The A400 and A460 both strayed away from the 8500 design, but this phone is a welcome return to the simplicity that made the 8500 such a hit. This phone is nothing special. It doesn't have a camera or anything like that. It comes with a lot of ringers and such, but anything you download, you pay for usually on a 3 month basis. It's not worth it.
There is no front display but you adapt quickly. As is the case with all Samsung flip phones, it gets hot and the battery doesn't last long. If you charge every night and don't talk a lot, this will never be a problem. As far as heat, it's nothing unusual. The service is fine. I've had no problems.
The voice memo is back. That's extremely useful once you get the hang of it. The alarm clock is far more functional. But the thing I like the most on this phone is the voice dial. It is far more functional than the crude voice dialing on the 8500 and the spiffed up voice dialing on the A460. The voice dial is a feature of the PHONE and is not the Sprint Voice Command service. My only real gripe with the phone is that the phone book is so feature rich that it's not easy to use. It's easier for me to voice dial someone than navigate my phone book. Another gripe is that phone calls sound somewhat tinny, like the other person is standing in a big empty room. I noticed this on the first day, but quickly grew used to it.Pros:
1. Better, functional voice dialing.
2. slim design
3. Voice memo is back, lots of features
4. Plenty of downloadables if you're into that.
5. Launch pad buttons are programmable!Cons:
1. Over featured phone book
2. No front display!
3. Typical short battery life with all Samsung flips
4. tinny, hollow sound during phone callsUndocumented features:
1. Menu button pages down lists, and the volume up and down also pages up and down through lists.
2. During a call, if you hold down the "back" key, the time and date will pop up on screen.
3. The center button of the launch pad pressed without holding down is the same as the OK button.Overall, if you're just looking for a decent cell phone, this will do. If you want features and options and a camera and other frills, buy another phone. This phone will mainly appeal to people who remember the old 8500's and people who don't want a fancy phone, but don't want a piece of garbage either.
Product features:
This tri-mode, folder-style CDMA phone sports a large color screen and other top features
Compatible with Sprint PCS ergonomic game pad
Large LCD color screen features 65,000 colors (128x160 pixels)
Equipped with automatic no-training voice dialing
Comes with a voice memo that can record messages up to 10 minutes long

Great for Xbox Live as well

I bought this headset to use a replacement for the headset that comes with Xbox Live (the online service for Xbox game consoles). The standard Xbox Live headset is very clumsy and fragile. Fortunately, it can be replaced with any headset that uses a standard 1/8" jack. All you do is disconnect the standard headset from the adapter (the block thing with the volume control that plugs into your Xbox controller), and connect the Jabra in its place. It takes a little force to push it in all the way, but otherwise it fits perfectly.

The other reason I wanted to replace the Xbox headset is because with some Xbox games (like Mech Assault 2), if I want to wear headphones, I need to wear them over the headset. As you can imagine, that's uncomfortable. The Jabra headset fits over the ear and is flush against the head. While I'm wearing it, I can comfortably wear my headphones over it.

Not only does this headset work with my Xbox, but it works with my cordless phone and my cell phone. That makes this headset a great value.

The sound is very good, and everyone I talk to says my voice is clear. I think this is a great headset, and I'm very happy with my purchase.
Product features:
Ultra-lightweight design, unbeatable comfort, breakthrough styling.
Outstanding voice clarity and noise-canceling microphone.
Low-profile earpiece fits snugly behind the ear for a discreet look.
JABRA MiniGels channel sound for great reception and pivot for use in either ear.
Includes one EarWave Boom headset with 4ft. (1.2m) cord and four MiniGels -- two standard and two small.

Worth every penny

Traded the i730, AT LAST. I hated the size, it's about friggin time nextel offered a small color display phone. Motorola has made excellent tiny phones for years, and I finally get to combine it with Nextel service, which I wouldn't trade for anything. The browser is so useful I couldn't live without it, Biz Finder (I never call information), People Finder, movie times and flight arrivals, basically everything you could want out of a web browser for 10 bucks a month. And supposedly the GPS will actually work in this model (another 15 bucks a month), though I haven't tried it. And the "Address Book" is a convenience I become spoiled by. It keeps up to 5000 numbers in a searchable database that you create at Nextel.com and access through the browser (at a very reasonable speed). So far, the i830 is everything the 730 was just ALOT smaller. IT'S SO FRIGGIN TINY- FINALLY!!
Product features:
Nextel's smallest phone ever
Incoming and Outgoing cellular audio as well as voice memos with the Voice Recorder
Full Color Display and Speakerphone
One Touch access to Direct-Connect
Comes with a Slim Bettery, Battery Door, Carry Holster, and 600 Contact SIM Card

It works for me....

When the Treo 300 came out, I started looking for a decent price. I had decided to wait for a price decrease when I saw the rebate offer from Amazon.com. I purchased it immediately. The features for me, a low volume cell phone user, are great. The combination of a cell phone and PDA truly lightens the load on my belt. I've gotten used to no grafitti which was my biggest adjustment. Downside? Sprint customer service ('nuff said).
I won't be going on the web with the unit, so the problems with the browser don't concern me. The speakerphone is loud and clear, learning to use the keyboard was easy and programming the phone was a snap. I do have some concerns about battery life as the battery charge indicator takes a fall rather quickly during calls. However, after subtracting the Amazon.com rebate, the Sprint rebate and selling my old PDA, this baby is hard to beat.
Product features:
Combines a PCS Vision mobile phone with a 16 MB Palm OS organizer
Full color display with backlit keyboard
Send and receive e-mail and access the Web wirelessly with easy-to-use keyboard
Synchronize data with your PC or Mac in seconds with USB connection
Includes travel charger, stylus, and hands-free headset

Nice Small One

This was one of my first phones and i loved it. It was small enough to put anywere and was so fun to play with. it had great ringtones and wallpapers on it plus i had sports updates to get all the latest game score it was an awsome feature. But the on thing i didnt like was that with no external antenna there was always a very weak signal indoors so you would very often loss you connection and miss calls while inside a building.

Beautiful Design -- Great Execution

Being an Apple user, design of a product is important to me. This phone not only works beautifully, but it looks, too.
I got this yesterday (Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003) and I haven't been able to put it down since. I've been with Virgin for about a year, and I bought this from Circuit City to replace my old 'Party Animal' -- Kyocera 2119b, which was feelin' its age.
The colour screen is amazing, and I get really good 'shock' factor from it -- everyone wants to hold it! And hear it, considering its MIDI tones and sounds.
As for service, I had Sprint before Virgin, and it worked fine for me, but I don't get service in my school, which has to do with the campus itself. (Our system is SO backwards!)
Thanks Virgin Mobile/Kyocera for giving us a blast again!
- My 'Party Animal' is going to my friend, for those who were wondering. ; )
Product features:
No prepaid minutes included. Comes with charger.
Unique sliding design - phone slides open with the push of a thumb
Full-color screen
Downloadable, polyphonic ringtones and vibrate alert

You get what you paid for

I have been using this phone for 5 months. It looks cute, very good reception and has all the basic features. I have to charge the battery daily if I speak for about half an hour. It doesnt show the missed calls or unheard messages on the screen(May be I didn't know how to do that?). You cant charge when you are on the phone if you use head phones.I dont recommend this phone unless you get paid a lot.

Single-band GSM phone
High-Speed internet connection using GPRS technology
Custom faceplates and ringtones
Up to 200 minutes' digital talk time, 200 hours' digital standby time
Includes lithium-ion or NIMH battery, charger, and headset

Battery estimates way overestimated

Just a not: I have never gotten close to the battery time that amazon has listed. I get maybe 5 days of standby if I'm not making any calls or using the phone at all. I get max 4 hours of talk time. Amazon has over 10 hours of talk time estimated.
I like the phone but thought this info might be useful.
Product features:
Large 128x160 pixel 65.000 color screen
MMS for composing messages using images, sounds and text
Supports Java and Mophun platforms for the widest range of mobile games and applications
Supports Bluetooth, infrared and cable for PC synchronization
With a built-in 319 x 288 pixel camera and QuickShare software
