Nokia 6610 Phone (T-Mobile)
Awesome Phone Choice

After using the bulky 3650 for three weeks, I searched for a smaller alternative. I was immediately interested in the 6610. I have used this phone for two months now. Not only is it the perfect size (not too small, not too large), it also has all the features a high-tech phone user would want. If you can live without an integrated camera, you won't miss much more. In true Nokia style, the phone is simple to use and despite its delicate appearance, this little guy is as durable as other Nokias I have owned. The phone book is very user-friendly and the speakerphone is excellent. Even better, with the optional headset you can listen to music over the integrated radio.
If there are any drawbacks to this phone here they are. Although I find it more convenient to use 1-touch dialing, this phone does not have voice dialing. The keypad is a decent size, but the power on/off key is small and difficult to press. However, the battery life is good enough you shouldn't be overly concerned with turning this phone off. In my opinion the worst issue on this phone is the side-mounted volume control. It requires significant force to operate which can be scary on such a small phone. One other issue is that the headphone jack is unique to Nokia, so standard headphones will not work.
Overall this is the best phone I have ever owned. Any disadvantages are easily outweighed by its advantages. Nokia does not disappoint in this model.

New color screen with the "classic" Nokia 6000 series style
Mobile Internet capability
Includes polyphonic ringtones, speakerphone, and an integrated stereo FM radio

palmOne Treo 600 PDA Phone - Next Generation (AT&T)
superior smartphone

The Treo is a really easy phone/PDA to learn and to use. It's packed with great features, and it's is truly and all-in-one, too bad it can't pick up the laundry too. Potential buyers, just be aware of the following:1. I could not get it to sync with my laptop with Windows 98. You need Windows 98 SE or ME or above. Solved the problem by buying a new laptop $$$.
2. If you're a woman with fingernails, you'll need the carrying case. The rounded smooth plastic buttons on the keyboard are difficult to use without the vynle cover.
3. The reception is no where nearly as clear as the digital phones. The reception from my bedroom is at best, really bad.
4. You'll spend another small sum on the protable keyboard, cradle, sync cable for travel, car recharger, a second charger and cradle for the office and memory.
5. Learn to back up your data. If your Treo crashes, you'll hear yourself letting out a gutteral scream that you didn't know was in you.
6. If you're storing pics and lots of data, you'll need more memory sooner than later.
7. Get a hands free earpeace so you can be on the phone and look at your calendar and contacts.
8. Join a support group for others who want to lynch the techies who write the manuals for these things. It'll take a couple of cups of strong coffee and an 30 minutes before you end up taking the dog out for a walk.
9. The stylus unscrews to reveal a pointy end to reset your Treo if it freezes. The Tech line is never open when your Treo gets stuck and it's making a loud clicking sound. Plus, when it freezes, you can't get the help number that is stored on your Treo. Tatoo it on your forearm, it'll be more useful.
10. There is no "OFF" button for the Treo and yes, it will freeze on you.
11. You cannot drive and use the Treo like your cell phone, you'll be risking your life and the life of every other dirver on the road if you try to type, send an email, or update a contact or calendar entry.
12. There is no spell check, so expect that most of your emails will be gibberish or unintentionally funny.
13. You can take out a second mortgage to buy the Treo and all it's accessories, but it's really worth it.
Product features:
Treo 600 combines a full-featured mobile phone and Palm OS organizer with wireless applications like email, text messaging, web browsing and even a digital camera
QWERTY keyboard makes entering text and accessing information fast and familiar-perfect for messaging and a must have for email
Built-in color web browser, Blazer, gives you fast access to nearly all the sites on the web-not just the ones optimized for mobile devices
Take a picture or share images with others via email-you can even attach a photo to a phone number so you can see exactly who's calling with Picture Caller ID
Because Treo 600 runs the popular Palm OS, there are thousands of applications you can download and use-like MP3 players, etc.

Grat phone. Great service.

I cannot be happier with this phone. The only problem with it is the fact that it is thicker then normal phones and is not good for carrying around in jeans pockets, which does not bother me since I prefer to carry it in a leather case anyway.

If you've owned a motorola phone before you will not have any problems with the interface (if you haven't and can't figure things out, this is what the manual is for). Contrary to what some people are saying you can specify if a phone number is for a cell, work, home etc phone. However, if you need to use that functionality you must store your phone numbers on the phone memory and not the SIM card. (SIM cards can only hold simple phone info)

The bluetooth works great - I use it with a HS850 headset.

I also love the keyboard, entering data to phone is very very easy.
Product features:
Tri-band GSM capability
Built-in Bluetooth wireless technology
Supports MMS, SMS, e-mail (POP3, SMTP, IMAP4), and instant messaging
Integrated VGA digital camera
Full QWERTY keyboard with 5-way navigation

Motorola's flagship TDMA flip-phone gets some color

Motorola's second-generation version of their flagship V60 flip-phone continues to prove itself a worthy successor to the industry redefining StarTAC. Those who've yet to jump on the GSM bandwagon will find the V60 to be a solid performer, with a feature set that may not match the bells-and-whistles of GSM phones, but is eminently useful. Perhaps best of all, unlike GSM phones, the TDMA-based V60 retains the ability to fallback to analog (AMPS) service when digital can't be found. This will become less of a differentiator as cellular providers build out their GSM networks, but at this time it can still help you find useable service outside big cities and off major transportation routes.

The original V60 replaced the incredibly popular StarTAC. At about the same thickness (though more uniformly from end to end) and a bit narrower, the V60 was a stylish follow-up. In addition to improved battery life, the V60 added programmable ringtones, voice dialing, and several other useful improvements. The signal and voice quality duplicated or improved upon those of the StarTAC, and the flip-phone form-factor continued to prove more comfortable for handset use than candy-bar styled phones.

The V60 Color retains the advantages of the original V60, and adds a few tweaks. The inside color display is both an improvement (for its greater display capabilities) and a distraction (for its difficulty in viewing under strong sunlight). The external display has been enlarged, which on the one hand allows it to display additional information (signal strength, digial/analog service, battery charge), while on the other reduced the size of the date and time display. The V60 Color's voice dialing now has two modes: the name mode of the original V60, in which you can recall entries in your phone book with a voice tag, as well as digit dialing, in which you can dial 7- 10 and 11-digit phone number by speaking the digits. The latter is particularly handy, though it means that voice dialing now takes an extra step while you ask for either Name or Digit dialing.

Downsides of the V60 Color are mostly the same as the V60. The fixed external antenna can poke you in the side if you carry the phone on your belt. The belt clip that's included with the phone is useable, but not necessarily the most comfortable (the thin Body Glove case, for example has a much more tractable clip). Motorola's menu system isn't always intuitive, and the single-voiced ringtones (no polyphonics, no MP3s) are dull.

If you need a camera, advanced ringtones, Internet browsing or the other bells and whistles of GSM, this is not the phone for you. If you're looking for a stylish, solidly performing TDMA phone with AMPS capability, this is a great pick.
Product features:
New version of the V60 offers a large color display, plus a new larger external display
Other upgrades include 4-way navigation keys and voice digit dialing
Phonebook can store up to 500 contacts
Comes with three games: MotoGP, Mahki, and Kick Champion
Includes a changeable metal shell

Motorola HS850 Bluetooth Headset
Bluetooth 1.2 makes a huge difference

First off, the HS850 was a noticeable improvement over the HS810. I got better range (20-25 feet) than with the previous model (10-15 feet). I am using a Treo 650 and am extremely disappointed that Palm did not splurge for Bluetooth 1.2 with my phone.

My wife's Razor gets unprecedented range. I had always heard that the Razor got good range, but I got what I would estimate was 250 feet! While some may not believe that, it is true. And this was in an environment with several Wi Fi hot spots available. To put this in perspective, Bluetooth allowed me to get more range than my Linksys G router. I would attribute this to its frequency hopping capabilities. My wife would have been happy with 50 feet of range so she could walk around the house, now she can talk and take out the garbage (when I forget)!
Product features:
Bluetooth wireless technology means that the sheer convenience of hands-free communication is enhanced with total freedom of movement.
Unfold the boom microphone, place the headset over the ear and a link will be established automatically.
This universal accessory encourages users to update, change and evolve because it is compatible with all other 1.1 compliant Bluetooth wireless technology phones by Motorola and other manufacturers.
Smaller Size, Bigger Power. This tiny powerhouse is less than 5 cm in diameter when folded and weighs just 20 grams.
Increased talk time of up to 8 hours and standby time of up to 200 hours.

The Best Smartphone Available

The 5600 is without a question the best smartphone on the market as of now. It is the only phone to house WMP 10 which is a great plus for music and video. The speed is quite amazing and all the software that it comes with such as photo contacts is a plus as well. The screen resolution is as good if not better then that of a pocket pc. The only problem that I have with the phone is the fact that the mini sd card is under the battery. Therefore, you must take out the battery in order to put the mini sd card in its slot. However, it does not bother me that much because using programs like Pocket Divx Encoder, I can watch 4 full movies on my phone with perfect sound and quality. This really is an entire multimedia center in your pocket! The bluetooth works like a charm and its quite fun to set your own MP3's as your ringtone. ATT's service is quite great around me and if you are looking for your next smartphone or phone in general, with such a low price I would not look any further then the Audiovox SMT 5600!
Product features:
World's smallest Windows Mobile Smartphone
Call, email, text message or instant message - all from one integrated phone
Email, contacts and calendar sync seamlessly with your PC
Built-In CMOS VGA Camera with Camcorder

- really lame rubber flap that covers the charging connector isn't connected to the phone
- Battery life is a little weak; maybe 3-4 hours talktime
- The camera is .3 megapixels, (640x480) and is pretty crappy
- the 'camera flash' is just the light that blinks when the phone is ringing
- is a little big (not super big, just a little big)
- No bluetooth, or IRDA, no memory expansion.

Very good phone, I love the midi ringtones (just email them to the phone) and the mp3 ringtones. Reception is great, and the verizon coverage is great in the SF bay area. Menus are easy to use and well layed out.
