Samsung X427M Phone (Cingular)
A+wesome

I used to have the Samsung x427 (for a year actually). I was really excited when I first got it, because flip phones are so sleek! But as the months when on, I learned that the phone was not all it was cracked up to be. After the first few months of owning the phone, It would just randomly turn off, then back on, for no reason... no problem with the battery being low or anything, just decided to turn off then on again... that was so annoying! When I got it over a year ago, Cingular was offering it for free! It's now at least $50 with a plan! I would not pay money for this phone! You'd think that over the year they would offer it for free still, not make it more expensive! Also, I got my phone with a camera for $50! The samsung x427 has very few features. Only plusses: It's small and very cute and stylish. That's it though... Not recommended!!!

More con's than pro's.

yeah, go with a different phone. this one has been discontinued because it has so many promlems. I've had it for the past 8 months or so and I'm getting ready to trade it in for a new one for the third time. problems the phone often encounters:
-end button stops working
-randomly dropped calls
-answer the phone to both the microphone AND speaker not working
-screen not working so you can't tell who's calling
-dirt gets under the screen very easilyI'm sure there are more. it's not all bad, but you're much better off with another phone.
Product features:
Large color screen supports up to 4096 colors (120x160 pixels)
Synchronize your Phonebook, Calendar and To-Do List
Email Text and Picture Messages
Voice Dialing, Recording, and Commands
Phone supports wireless Internet and Java downloads

Siemens SX66 PDA Phone (Cingular)
Good, PDA, OK phone

on the whole, I really like my SX66. The reception I get with Cingular (even after the takeover) is not quite what I got with my old AT&T phone, so I believe this is due to the phone itself.

For talking on, the quality is certainly acceptable, but by no means the best cell phone I've ever had. A hands free device is a good thing to have since the phone itself is rather bulky.

That brings us to the downsides:

* The included hands free microphone/headset broke within a month.
* The bluetooth headset I bought (Jabra BT250) has generates a pretty consistent amount of static if the phone is more than a foot or two from the headset.

Everything is functional, and because of the data capabilities I have to say I like the phone and wouldn't trade it in for another, but it'd be a definite 5 star device if they could iron out the bluetooth static issue.
Product features:

Buggy Buggy Buggy

Use extreme caution before buying this product. It might work for you or it might be a complete waste of your money.

The program is very touchy. Many people have complained of problems related to it "hanging" when initializing. It overwrites drivers with older versions on install at times. Multiple phone numbers for the same contact are stored only as a separate entry (even if your phone supports multiple #'s for one person). If you have too many contacts and need to synchronize a subset from Outlook, you may be out of luck. Numerous people have complained that the newer versions freeze when trying to select a category to filter the sync on.

It's ok.q

I got this phone because it was supposed to be such a great phone...and now don't get me wrong the phone works great as far as being able to talk and hear the other person...but when you look at the features you'd think it does a whole lot of stuff too, well it does. BUT, it doesn't do awhole lot of stuff too. I think it maybe it may depend alot upon who your service provider, so be sure to check that T-Mobile hasn't reprogrammed your phone to do alot less than it's capable of. I can't even download games. As far as firmware goes, I have had a hell of a time finding that. I'd like to undo whatever T-mobile did do just to have the functionality it would have origionally came with had they not screwed around with the original software.
Product features:
Large 128x160 pixel 65.000 color screen
MMS for composing messages using images, sounds and text

With a built-in 319 x 288 pixel camera and QuickShare software

Jabra Classic EarSet for Phones with a 2.5mm Jack
Some surprises, some dissapointments

The Jabra earbud is surprising in its design. There is no mouthpiece to wrangle with, and no clip circling your ear. It is comfortable for indoor use. The cool design is outweighed by the dissapointments. The rubber earpieces fall off after a few months of use, and once they come off, they keep falling off. The sound quality is marginal for the person you are calling (it transmits sounds to your ear quite well). I've had people complain that it sounds like I'm in a tunnel. Oh, and forget about using it on a windy day. It picks up quite a bit of wind noise. The biggest dissapointment is it's durability. I hold the record, since mine lasted through about 12 months of "every other day" use. My cousin's went south after two months. My buddy had one which died after about four months. It appears that the internal wiring at the jack fails, resulting in clipped sounds and finally no sound at all.
Product features:
Increased hands-free safety
Unidirectional microphone hidden in earpiece
Washable and healthier for ears than earpads
EarGels secure the EarSet in outer ear for hours of comfortable wear
Compatible with Motorola phones with 2.5mm jack

Motorola i730 Phone (Nextel)
Ok by me

I recently upgraded my nextel from an i90c (I dropped it in the water) to the i730 back in early August 2004. So far I love it almost as much as my old i90.

The design itself is excellent, very sleek looking. It's alot easier to "personalize" this phone because you can replace the little front cover thing for fairly cheap (I changed mine to a NY Yankees symbol for only $5) instead of changing the whole case, which you can also do. You can change the background, get real songs as ringtones, etc. I also love the mucical light around the front speaker (wish it played with actual song ringtones instead of just normal musical ringtones). The only complaint I have is that it can be exetremely loud when it rings, even on a lower setting.

My reception is fairly good with this phone, not as good as my i90 but much better than my old Nokia. I have heard that you can get a patch for the i730 that helps with the reception. The only times I don't have good reception is in some of the classrooms at my school and in the back rooms of my dorm (all of which are 2/3 concrete). I also don't get much signal out in the boonies but that's to be expected.

The software on it is great. You have more than enough space for all your contacts, 600 or so. All the programs are great, the calculator is as quick anymore, you actually have to select what you want to do (+,-,*,/) instead of using the scroll buttons, but that's superficial. You also don't get any full games, only demos but I don't think your going to buy a phone based on the games you get.

The battery life is the only real problem I have with the phone. I can only go for about 2 days without charging and that's if I don't make any calls or use it at all. The charging is really fast though, usually under 2 hours for me. The only other complaint is that the call buttons are reversed from the i90's so that took a little getting used too.

Sorry if this is long but I think its a good phone in general. The only reason it got 4 out of 5 from me is the reception and the battery issues. Hope this helps.

Motorola V300 Phone (T-Mobile)
perfect phone

I bought this phone in January when I was trying to find a quality picture phone for my job. From the many online reviews I had read, the V300 seemed to fit the bill. Well, I would not recommend buying this phone for its picture taking capability, as I find it to be well below average. I did not realize just how poor the picture quality was until my brother-in-law visited and we compared phones. He has a Samsung VGA1000 picture phone with Sprint PCS. The picture quality difference in these two phones is like night and day. The Samsung phone pictures are much sharper and have better color than the V300. I also find the speakerphone function of the V300 frustrating, as you cannot activate it until a few seconds after the other party answers, not when it starts ringing. If you are looking to buy this phone for picture quality, I would suggest looking elsewhere.
Product features:
Tri-band GSM capability
Large color display features 65,000 colors
Built-in VGA camera with zoom
Supports text messaging and wireless Internet (WAP 2.0)
Comes with 35 ringtones and supports MIDI and MP3 formats

Samsung E105 Phone (T-Mobile)
I like mine!!

I upgraded from the Sony Ericsson T300 to this phone and I think this one is fab!! I use it practically all day. It is a small and sleek flip, the outer caller ID is great. The menus were a bit confusing to navigate at first, but after having it two days it became second nature. The sound quality on calls is excellent, and having AIM is awesome! I have friends on T-mobile and the text messaging is a hot ticket!! The whole organizer section (calendar, alarm, to-do list, calculator and phone book) makes this phone practically indispensible to me. Add cool Java games and a huge selection of ring tones (and the ability to download more) and I don't know how I ever lived without it.
I have two minor complaints - one is the number of steps it takes to delete things (numbers from the phone book, text messages, etc.), I have to go into the message, click options, select delete and then confirm (my old phone was half as many steps). The other feature missing is personalized ringtones (different rings for different callers).
Product features:
This sporty little model is as fun as it is stylish
Large color screen (65,000 colors)
Download MegaTones from the hottest bands
WorldClass international phone (dual band: 900 & 1900 MHz) for travel in over 100 countries
Comes with picture messaging and AOL Instant Messenger
