Motorola A630 Phone (T-Mobile)
Another winner from Moto! But T-Mobile coverage sux

The A630 is another ground-breaking handset design from Motorola. It showcases the ingenuity of American engineering when you see the QWERTY keyboard hidden underneath on this lightweight (4 oz.) cell phone. It's stylish, too, and has great reception -- that is, where T-Mobile has coverage at all. Compared to the Sidekick II and many other T-Mobile phones, the A630 has the best signal-keeping capability, but T-Mobile just sucks big time, unless you live right next to one of their sporadic cell towers. Worse, their GPRS (data) network is slow and congested. While surfing the web on the A630 is really cool when the network is accessible, for most part of the day the network is slow and often inaccessible. We really need the govt to step in and mandate that these cell companies upgrade their networks first before charging consumers an arm and a leg for data services.

Tri-band GSM capability
Built-in Bluetooth wireless technology
Supports MMS, SMS, e-mail (POP3, SMTP, IMAP4), and instant messaging

I LOVE IT!!

THIS HANDSET IS THE ABSOLUTE GREATEST! THE PICTURE QUALITY IS AS PERFECT AS A DIGITAL CAMERA,EXCEPT WHEN TAKING MULTI-SHOTS ( CAN TAKE UP TO 15 CONSECUTIVE PICS ) FOR SOME ODD REASON, :< ..BUT HEY -- NO PHONE WILL EVER HAVE IT ALL.. YOUR ABLE TO CHANGE THE LOOK OF THE PORTRAIT FROM STANDARD TO SKETCH, SEPTA, NEGATIVE, ETC. THE RECEPTION IS VERY GOOD FOR A PHONE W/ AN INTERNAL ANTENNA. THE RINGTONES ARE PRETTY LOUD, AND FUN.. I WISH THE VOICE RINGTONES WOULD HAVE BEEN AS CLEAR AS THE MOTO V300, -- BUT SAMSUNG PRODUCTS IN GENERAL SURPASS, BY FAR, MOTOROLA QUALITY. THE MENU FORMAT IS USER FRIENDLY.. AND THE KEYPAD IS NOT IN ODD FORM, OR TOO SMALL AS OTHER PROVIDERS TRY TO UP SELL THEIR PRODUCTS. THE PREDICTIVE TEXT FORMAT IS T9 NOT THE HORRENDOUS iTAP. EMBEDDED ANIMATIONS ARE CUTE. ITS SMALL, ITS A FLIP.. SIMPLY PUT~~ I LOVE MY PHONE.. AND U WOULD TOO..

Terrible reception

This phone has terrible reception. Forget what you hear from these people that say Sony Ericsson has a different type of signal indicator and all that crap. The simple fact is that this phone does not get a signal, or gets a weak signal, where some other phones like the V300 get a good signal. In addition, even when this phone has a signal, it still cuts in and out during calls. The microphone picks up a ton of background noise making it very difficult for people to hear you when you are anywhere with any noise in the background at all.The camera on my phone has a horizontal line going across the middle of the phone. This may be my particular phone. Besides that, the quality of the camera is very poor compared to other phones. The phone freezes up at random, requiring you to turn the phone off or take the battery out to get it to restart. T-Mobile suggested a master reset, which incidentally wipes out everything you have saved on the phone, including settings, contacts, appointments, pictures, etc. Not convenient. Anyway, it seems to have solved the problem for the most part, only hanging once since then.I would like to point out though that T-Mobile has very, very good customer service. I have called in several times, at different times of the day, and have never had to wait on hold for more than 30 seconds. With AT&T, waiting 30 minutes to an hour is normal! And that's assuming the system doesn't hang up on you. Also, my girlfriend has the Motorola V300 which works very well on the network.DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE. Get the V300. You will thank me for it.

Just your average no frills cell phone

I bought this cell phone a couple of days ago to compare network coverage between T-Mobile and Cingular

Pros:

- Minimalist style is very appealing

- Very light-weight

- Good battery life

- FREE; you can also get money back for buying it from Amazon

- Picks up a good reception; much better than a Sony Ericsson T610(although for different networks, I get great reception for both networks at my work)

Cons:

- Earpiece quality is not that great, especially when you have your ringers set to the highest audio level. The louder the ringer, the more distorted the audio is, which is very disappointing, considering the ringers can't get so loud. It seems like Samsung has yet to figure out how to do audio. Callers are loud, but not necessarily clear. Whether that can be attributed to Cingular's network or Samsung's manufacturing is completely unknown to me.

- Some menu functions are ridiculously time-consuming to get to. Sub-menu after sub-menu constitutes bad design. Samsung products have gone through a lot of different software designs, you'd think they'd have gotten better at it. On a side note, menu is very similar to Sony Ericsson T series, just not as intuitive.

- Navigation keys are too small. Yes, the phone is small, but the navigation could have been done better.

- Screen is not readable in direct sunlight. Most screens aren't, but they could've done better. Also, when you lock the keys, screen does not light back up when a key is pressed. When you're tired and need to unlock the keys and it's dark, it gets a little frustrating.

Overall, a very basic cell phone. Quality issues don't concern me too much, as the phone hasn't crashed or done anything bad on me. Bottom line, if you need a cell phone for occasional calling this is pretty decent.

Bad reception and camera

Contrary to what this site and T-Mobile lead me to believe, T-Mobile could not provide coverage at my home address. This did not stop Amazon.com from selling me the phone, nor T-Mobile from transferring my existing (working) AT&T number to their service (of course, this took two weeks and > 10 phone calls). After receiving no reception, I called T-Mobile and was informed that they do not actually cover my area.I called AT&T back, and they happily attempted to restore my account, only to find that T-Mobile refused to release the numbers. After a month of essentially no coverage from anyone, my phones are happily back on AT&T where they belong. The bad news is that T-Mobile has sent me a bill for more than double the quoted monthly rate and Amazon.com has not refunded my purchase price.Even in areas where I could get coverage, the phone itself did not work well. After pressing more than a few keys, the screen would lock up and I needed to remove the battery to reset it.Last warning: Watch out for the charges for inbound messages--if you really dislike a T-Mobile subscriber, send them lots of text messages (free from their site)--the subscriber has to pay $0.05/message.

Just the truth.

Hi,
I picked this headset because it had the highest rating from amazon's users. Plus I figured, logitech is good.
Well think again.
The headset is big and heavy.
Although the ear clip is very secure, it takes two hands to put on.
I dont like to wear my headset at all times, so if youre not like me, it wont bother you.
The wind\noise cancelling feature of the phone is nothing but a foam cover for a standard microphone.
The sound quality is very bad, constant crackling in the background.
I also have an logitech wireless headset, although it uses a different frequency and technology to connect, there is a distinct ping that I heard on the phone headset and still constantly hear on the xbox headset.
I have since returned the logitech headset and bought a us black motorola headset (hs850).
Very impressed with the new one.

Not very good at all - Very cheap build quality.

I suspect most of these reviews are from people that have not tried real headsets.

I'm a long time BT headset owner and I got a chance to try one of these out. It basically felt like a child's toy. Very "plasticy", very poor quality build. The clarity of the sound and limited signal range make this a bad buy at any price.

I strongly suggest paying the extra money for a Motorola HS810/HS820 or the Jabra BT250.

Excellent phone with few flaws...

If you're looking for a phone/PDA with "phone first" functions, you can stop looking. This little beauty is lightning fast, and has four different GSM bands giving unmatched reception. GSM reception had previously been a problem for me, but with this phone I have yet to see any calls dropped. It runs Microsoft's "Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition" operating system, meaning that it has outlook and email functions that are second to none. Your productivity will skyrocket soon after learning how to use all it's bells and whistles. It's also the fastest Microsoft smartphone to date, giving you excellent performance when running compatible programs.

One thing to note- The very early versions of this phone had low volume, but that is being corrected now with a ROM update. If you buy this phone and your ROM version is under .342, you may want to update. Calling Motorola customer service will make the process go painlessly.

You can check your ROM version by hitting the left soft key labeled "Start", then selecting "Settings", and "About". The Rom version is listed on the "Manufacturer: ..." line.

Good Luck and Good Choice!

Compatibility with Windows Mobile applications (Pocket Outlook/Pocket Internet Explorer)

Link your phone to your PC with ActiveSync or Bluetooth
Fully synchronize your email, calendar, contacts and tasks

Great phone, Great price

I just got this phone last week and I cannot stop talking about how great it is. It's small, lightweight and it has a camera! The camera isn't the best I've seen on phones, but it's pretty good for taking quick snapshots of things you want to remember. The screen is large and easy to see, and the backlight is very bright. The best thing is the reception on this phone. My house is in a bit of a dead spot, and on my old phone, the people I'd call would complain about not being able to hear me, but with the new phone, I don't have that problem.

Cant take care of your phone?

Ive had T-mobile for 2 years and had the v300 for a year now. All of these reviews about dropping calls in full signal and the phone rebooting itself must be a result of poor handling, because my v300 has only dropped 2 calls, and that was when there was no signal.

I use my phone a lot, I talk on it about 5 hours a day and I have had zero problems. So before you talk about haw crappy this phone is, look at how well youve been taking care of it.
