Audiovox 8500 Vox Phone (Virgin Mobile)
An excellent value

The only Audiovox product I've ever owned in my life was a cheap little FM radio, so I was weary when considering this brand of cell phone. However, I must say that I'm very impressed with this little phone and would definitely recommend it.First off - unless you want a car charger, you probably won't need to buy anything extra. Mine came with the phone itself, a slim battery that goes in the phone, a wall outlet charger, and various manuals and brochures. It's important to note that the user interface takes a little getting used to (like any cell phone) and the manual is definitely not well written. That said, if this is your first cell phone and you've never used one before, plan to spend an hour or two fiddling with things so you will understand how your phone works. This is my first cell phone. I bought it for emergency use (I have an older vehicle that seems to be getting some ideas...) and "where are you" phone calls (my friends seem to get lost regularly). I worked for AT&T Wireless this summer, so I knew to read the terms and conditions before I started using a cell phone service, and I was delighted to find no surprises hidden in the fine print on Virgin Mobile's service. As a matter of fact, the T&C's weren't even in fine print. No matter who you go with, read the conditions of service. You are guaranteed to find something that will either benefit you or shock you, and either way you'll be glad you read over things before handing a company your money.I do not like Virgin Mobile's advertising, but their prices and coverage in my area were persuasively better than any of the other pre-paid carriers. It is important to realize that Virgin Mobile operates using the Sprint PCS network, so if you have Sprint wireless service that is wonderful, you will likely have the same good coverage with Virgin. However, if you or some of your friends have Sprint and coverage is spotty, don't expect much more from Virgin. I have found the coverage to be excellent and just as advertised. I use my phone mostly in the Oklahoma City area, but also travel to the panhandle of Texas a few times a year. So far I have not experienced any dropped calls and I have only been out of the service area a few times, and it was always when I was in the middle of nowhere. As far as costs go, the first two months I spent about as much money on my pre-paid phone as I would have on a normal cell phone. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but if you will be using your cell phone every day, you should definitely consider a normal month-to-month plan and skip the pre-paid phones. While it's nice that Virgin lowers the price of your minutes the longer you talk, I've found that I usually only use 3-8 minutes on days when I actually use my phone, so the lower prices for extended use don't really help me. Also, you don't get any of the "free" perks with a pre-paid phone that you get with a plan, such as free nights and weekends, free mobile-to-mobile, etc. Again, if you plan to use your phone every day or even every other day you'd probably be best going with a normal cell phone service.Overall, I would definitely recommend both this phone and the accompanying Virgin Mobile service.

Motorola RAZR V3 Phone (Cingular) - Special Edition Black
Good looking on the outside but not so good on the inside.

The phone looks good and has a great design. Here are the negatives. It falls short on features that other cheaper phones has to offer. Navigating the software is slow. I don't understand why a company like Motorola didn't include numbering the selection features so navigating is faster and easier. You always have to scroll for the selection features you want. This is very annoying. The Razor has a big screen, but all the feature selections text is small. Only when you dial a phone number is the text easy to read. The wallpaper is in both the exterior and the interior. You can't have two separate wallpaper. The wallpaper is tinted when you make feature selections in the background making it very hard to view the text. This is the most annoying. Only when you select no wallpaper on both the exterior and the interior can you view the text and the external clock better. The camera phone could be better. My other cheaper phone took better pictures. And when you are talking on the phone and you need to give someone a phone number from your cell phone book, you can't.

Here are the positives: The ring tones are loud and not distorted. The speaker phone sounds good. The calendar works great. You can reorder the feature selections. I like the key pad. The alarm clock feature is excellent as you can set more than one with different ring tones. The alarm and calendar also work when you turn off the phone. I discovered this one afternoon at a movie theatre. I tuned off my cell phone out of respect for my fellow movies goers and, RING! RING! RING! The alarm came on right in the middle of the movie.

Despite its short comings, I'll live with it until a better phone comes along.

cool features, but problems...

Pros: Bluetooth, Bluetooth, Bluetooth. This phone has a perfect connection to my Palm Tungsten and it is a great web phone. I can check my email, stay up to beat with the weather, and I always know what movie is coming up and at what time.Pros: The Camera. This has been voted the best camera phone, and I can see why. You can take color pix, B&W pix, can even add effects to them, and can mail them to your friends in a snapPros: there are SO many gosh-darn features on this little thing, after a year of owning it, I am still finding out new and cold things about it. The TEXT Messaging is off-the-hooK, providing predictive texting so that the phone predicts what you are spelling ( which saves time).Cons: Not a single one ( Now, you must have an awesome mobile carrier AND must pay additional charges for wireless web and text/picture imaging, but it is worth it!)I honestly can go on for years about the pros of this phone, it's still one of the best on the market. If you are like me and wanted a Bluetooth/international/Color/Camera phone with email and web access, this is it....

Great Phone, on the west coast

Just bought the NEC 515 for free from attwireless.com. Great everything. Great reception, great sound, great look, etc.. etc.. My brother has the same one, however he lives in ohio, and gets horrible reception. My guess is it is the att service over there. I have traveled up and down the west coast, it and it works perfectly. Buy it if it suits u!

For business users and techno fanatics exclusively!

The Motorola V3 looks and feels amazing. It is definitely in a league of its own, especially with the declining quality in Motorola's mainstream telephones.

I purchased this phone for $500 CAN (approximately $410 US) and it came with the leather carrying case, Bluetooth handsfree, and all the usual accessories.

On the negative side, the keypad is really tough to clean. Some reviewers have mentioned the unit's low volume, even at the maximum level. I agree with that remark, the "sweet spot" is tiny and you must press your ear against the unit in order to hear clearly.

However, if you really like this phone, I don't think any of the above will keep you away from it. I'd buy it again.

Today's Motorola phones all feel so cheap and the RAZR V3 is the exception. It is a bit expensive but part of the pleasure is to know that you won't see every 15 year old kid with it. It is a unique and distinctive piece of technology.

What an awesome phone!

I've been using my new 6610 for about a week and I'm really impressed with the features they've packed into this phone. Granted, this is the first non-bargain basement phone I've ever had in the ten years I've had wireless service. I've always gone with whatever the local wireless store would give me for free. The size is just right, fits in my jeans pocket quite nicely and the battery life is the best I've ever seen. I can easily go three days with normal use before requiring a recharge.Reception with T-Mo in my area has been outstanding, and we travel quite a bit outside the T-Mo GSM network.
Product features:
New color screen with the "classic" Nokia 6000 series style
Mobile Internet capability
Includes polyphonic ringtones, speakerphone, and an integrated stereo FM radio
Phone book capacity for 300 contacts
Receive messages with image, sound, and text

Good plan for occasional use

The in-laws came in from out of country, and by the third day, we decided that they needed a cell phone. After researching for a day or so, I found the T-Mobile plan. For us, it was perfect, since we would only be using it occasionally, but I would not reccomend it for those who plan on using their phones a lot- you have to spend over $250 on minutes to get their best rates, and even then you have to buy $100 dollar cards. However, the major perk is that after 90 days, they will unlock your phone for free, so you can use another company's service (i.e. Cingular or AT&T, or local companies abroad). The phone itself is wonderful, very easy to use- my father-in-law, who has trouble with e-mail, can use it. I recommend this phone and plan for anyone who needs a phone every now and then.
Product features:
4-way navigation key for easy access to a variety of handy features
EMS and MMS messaging
Organizer includes calendar, calculator, alarm, and a scratch pad function
Customizable wallpaper and graphics, and 16-chord polyphonic ring tones
Java compatible

Motorola HS820 Bluetooth Headset - Hematite Gray
Best Headset I've ever used

I'm using this with a Motorola V710 from Verizon Wireless. It is by far the best headset I have ever used for a mobile phone. I've had about 6 total (2 Moto, 1 Nokia, 1 generic, 2 Plantronics) before this one, all wired. While at least half had good quality sound, they all had some sort of design flaw. Either short cord or uncomfortable earpiece. This works well. I'm a consultant and travel on highways, subways, and local roads. Have never had a problem with the 820 except where I had poor phone reception. Even going 65 on 95, I could hear perfectly, although they couldn't hear me when I had my windows rolled down.
Product features:
Simply turn the headset on, place it on your ear and a Bluetooth® link is automatically established
The multifunction button allows you to place, receive or end calls, all with the push of a button!
With Bluetooth wireless technology, devices work together even up to 10 meters (30 feet) away.
The overall compact size and lightweight (less than 20g) allows for easy storage when not in use
Lengthy talk and standby times include up to 6 hours of talk time or 100 hours of standby time from a single full charge
