An excellent combination of phone and PDA

For those who see things from Palm's point of view (the Zen of Palm, as it were) this device is an excellent choice. It combines the efficient and superbly usable Palm operating system with an adequate phone implementation. Combining the two devices (PDA and phone) is a Good Thing?

First, the PDA: You're getting Palm's fabled ease of use, coupled with the massive library of 3rd party PalmOS applications. Pretty much anything you want to do with a PDA, from acccessing your PC via VPN, to playing FPS games, is supported by someone. There are literally thousands of utilities, games, and other applications can be downloaded, often for free. The built-in support for MP3's, MS Office files, the 320x320 screen, and the camera all add up to an excellent PDA.

Next the phone: This is an adequate implementation of a phone. While the device seems to do well at getting a signal, and there is no problem with making calls from the built in applications, putting the PDA to your ear does take some getting used to. A bluetooth headset solves this, and I'm not sure there's a better solution. The speakerphone is both loud and clear.

The only con (thus far) is a lack of support in some older 3rd-party applications. If you happen to download something that isn't "well behaved" you can wind up with the occasional soft reset. No loss of data, but annoying nevertheless. This is usually the fault of a programmer taking liberties and using "unsupported" methods... for instance, accessing memory directly to write to the screen.

Overall, I highly recommend the Treo 650.

T610

I have been using my T610 for 6 months and I am very happy with the phone. My T610 replaced a 2 year old Motorola StarTAC with a different carrier. I love the size and style of this phone. It has a great microphone. People comment that they can hear me better with the T610 compared to the StarTAC.
The camera (with built in mirror for self portraits) is great for quick photos that can be quickly emailed or Bluetooth from the phone to a computer. This ability is fun for trips. I like to snap a photo and email it to family and friends. The photo quality is standard for camera phones (lackluster).
I can go about 3-4 days without a charge by turning the phone off at night (YMMV, I only use about 150 minutes a month). The reception has been no problem compared to my former carrier. But, it is odd how the signal bar can dip and rise in strength for no apparent reason.
The T610 is digital only, I miss having dual mode when traveling in the Midwest. My phone has frozen on me one time in the past 6 months, removing the battery took care of it. I was in `T-zones' canceling a command when it froze. One strange thing about the phone, I wish that I didn't get a text message for missed calls and voice mails. The missed call and voicemail icons on the screen are enough. The Good:
Size, weight and style
One button instant camera control
Battery life and reception when compared to StarTAC
Bluetooth
Ring tones, games, T-zones
Strong aluminum bodyThe Bad:
Screen scratches easily
No analog/digital dual band
Frequent text messages from the phone itself
Plastic front smudges
Product features:
Large 128x160 pixel 65.000 color screen
MMS for composing messages using images, sounds and text
Supports Java and Mophun platforms for the widest range of mobile games and applications
Supports Bluetooth, infrared and cable for PC synchronization
With a built-in 319 x 288 pixel camera and QuickShare software

No voice activated dialing.

I am unfortunately not very happy with this phone. The speakers sound quality produces what i can only describe as a harmonic resonating distortion at the end of spoken words,As if the speaker were blown.I do not keep the volume at maximum and have never used it with full volume so there's no reason for it.This does not happen continuously (Thank god)but does occur quite often. The battery life is very good and the phone is feature packed.Signal strength seems to be decent,Accept some times peoples voices seem to drop out for a second or so even when i'm just using it in my house(I am in an area that is suppose to have very good coverage,I am with T-mobile.Overall,I cannot recommend this phone because of its innate sound quality. The resonating distortion is annoying.
Product features:
New color screen with the "classic" Nokia 6000 series style
Mobile Internet capability
Includes polyphonic ringtones, speakerphone, and an integrated stereo FM radio

Not compatible with mac

After hearing many rave reviews on this phone and assessing it's many pluses (mainly bluetooth and expandable memory), I was disappointed to find out that this phone and it's software is not compatible with a mac....And after talking to a Nokia support employee at 1-888-665-4228, I learned that they have no future plans to make it compatible. Too bad, Nokia gets a thumbs down from me! I guess I will be waiting for Sony Ericsson's T-610P.S. After asking if I could listen to my favorite internet stations via real player, he also informed me that the capability was there, but that no providers support it at this time.

nice phone!

Overall, decent. The LCD is nice and bright, and it's a good size too. I was surprised at how crisp the screen was. The display was nice and clear-- two thumbs up. I tried out the camera of course. The flash option is nice, but doesn't do as much brighting I hoped (I didn't try taking pictures outside, but I'm sure those would be 10 times better) Many of the other pictures stored on the phone seemed a bit dark as well. However, besides that, the quality of the pictures was really good. Also, there are options for different kinds of photos you want to take-- whether you are taking one of someone else, taking a self portrait, or doing a group photo. The phone is cute. Silver, flip phone, camera, color screen. It is by far one of the best in it's class. It is true that Sprint has high prices on service plans, and I've also heard that the customer service is lousy, but as for their phones, Sprint is holding the weight. Plus, the phone is free right now, so hey, why not?
Product features:
This tri-mode CDMA phone comes with a large color display that supports 65,000 colors
Comes with integrated camera with flash
Equipped with voice activated dailing
Supports wireless Internet (WAP 2.0) and text messaging

Sleek design drops calls

I bought this phone for $199.99 from T-Mobile over six months ago. At first, it was great! So small, sleek, light, great quality camera, nice sound quality, always service, easy to use. But then it got dropped in a sink full of water, I let it dry out completely and it worked back to new, but drops calls constantly! T-Mobile wants to charge me another $70 to replace it, yeah right. I will deal with the dropped calls. Another thing which is annoying is my LCD turns blank every so often lately.
It is also missing a couple features, such as:
-saving a sent SMS into a folder
-speaker phone
-better rigtones

All in all, it's a lovely phone and I have been please with it, just as long as it's taken care of very well and you have insurance you should be okay.

Best features:
-light weight
-ringtones download easily
-great reception
-vibrant colors

But overall, one of the most annoying things my phone does it when I recieve a text message and I don't read it immediately it chimes every 2 minutes. So it sounds like I am recieving a ton when it's all for one... and there is not a way to change the alert setting!

I would reccomend it if you can get it for a low price or free.
Product features:
Ultralight with dual color displays
Built-in VGA camera
Java capable
Voice recorder
Includes phone and travel charger

Do not get service from AT&T !! They are LOUSY !

I'm glad I ended up finding a bundle that made this phone only $$$ after rebates. (You should be able to find it free with signup now, else don't bother.)

It's too bulky, turns itself off occasionaly (with plenty of battery left), has developed a glitch with the ringer tone volume (too low even at highest setting), has too little memory (full after one custom tone, one game download, a few dozen address entries and 5-10 pics) and only syncs address book with iSync (no calendar or notes sync).

It does have excellent reception and the camera is fun if you have a well lit subject, although keep in mind you'll need a bluetooth computer to share the photos unless you subscribe to iMode (which is a terrible service, they should pay *you* to beta test their user-interface).

The rotary style buttons didn't bother me but irritate many of my friends who have purchased the phone or have used mine.

I'm setting my sights on the Sony Ericsson T610 as soon as my contract is up.

Pretty Darn Good

I have had this Sidekick for 14 months. Overall, it is very good unit. When people ask, I generally say that it is a mediocre phone but that the wide range of additional features make up for its limitations. I have gotten used to holding its odd shape up to my ear and generally keep all of the numbers that I need loaded into the address book (having to dial manually is a pain, as is probably the most glaring deficiency as a phone). For data services though, it rocks. The kybd is better than any other on the market. The web browser is very functional. AIM & email are excellent. The address book (with quick links to email, phone, website and SMS) are really great. Perfection in a next gen version would mean (a) more local storage, (b) MP3 compatibility, (c) MS Exchange compatibility and (d) Bluetooth.
Product features:
Important note: It's required that you add the Sidekick Unlimited Data option to your service plan before you check out.
To add the required option, you must add the Sidekick and a service plan, and then on the Accessories page, you need to select the Sidekick Unlimited Data option located under Service Options (this option is located on Step 3 in the checkout process)
The T-Mobile Sidekick is the ultimate communication device
A large color screen that flips open to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard makes for quick and easy communication
Stay connected with all your friends with unlimited e-mail, AOL Instant Messenger, Internet browsing, text messaging and mobile snapshots

WORST PHONE I HAVE EVER USED

The color screen the curvy shape and smooth sexy look drew me to pay $50 after rebates, and it HAS BEEN THE WORST DECISION OF MY LIFE,im sorry, even worse was choosing AT&T service(...).What good is a phone that fails to keep you connected, cant make calls even with full reception, drops calls, tries its best to send calls direct to the voice mail without me even knowing people were tryin to reach me,freezes, and after you get tired of messing around with the fone and have played the crappy games and seen the crappy fotos with communicam you'd like to get down 2 serious work and be able to make and recieve calls rite?and after talking to the ATT customer service, after being put on hold for 3 hours, there have been times when i have wanted to throw the fone at the wall or drive my car over it but hey i need to know when ive got voice mail rite !! and may i suggest that u use this phone for character building, trying your patience, controlling your temper...and all that karma and zen stuff when your waiting for ages for your lovable t68i to boot up.
Product features:
GPRS connection for quick Internet access
Bluetooth connectivity for wireless data transfer between other Bluetooth devices
Color display with customizable screen savers
Easy operation and menu navigation with joystick

Cheap Phone - Take Away Some Stars!

I have now had this phone for half a year. The first few months, it worked ok and I was very pleased. I gave it 5 stars back then. I wish I could take a few of them back.

Now, my v180 is unreliable at best. I can't keep track of how many conversations I've had when all of a sudden they can't hear me. I try to call back and it's just static. I have to wait a few minutes while the phone settles down to call back. What's the point of having a phone if you can only talk on it occasionally, when it feels like letting you stay connected for over 5 minutes?

In case you are thinking of getting this, let's go to the Pros:
1. Ring Tones: This phone has many True Tone as well as Polyphonic rings to choose from.

2. Battery Life: Crazy-long battery life.

3. Buttons: Not tiny, but well-spaced buttons

4. Cheap

5. Small

Here are the downsides:

1. Very few games to choose from: I don't understand why some pretty basic games are not available on this phone. If games are important to you, STAY AWAY from this phone.

2. Small screen.

3. Unreliable

4. Fairly quiet, easy-to-miss ring

5. Other party has hard time hearing me when I use speakerphone.

I'm not sure why anyone would want this. We got my wife's free Nokia 3120 at the same time, and she's had absolutely no problems with it. I think I paid $50 for this piece of junk...and now they are being given away. I'm looking to get a replacement soon.
Product features:
The sleek feature-forward model V180 offers mobile movers and shakers hip style without the hot price tag.
Polyphonic speaker for MP3 ring tunes and MPEG4 video playback
Large, vibrant color display with picture caller ID
Stylish clamshell design with integrated speakerphone
Includes phone, charger and user documentation.
