Motorola i730 Phone (Nextel)
A little expensive but Nextel service makes up for it.

This is the best phone that Nextel offers due to its thinner profile and awesome color screen. It has a ton of great features for those who are like me and love to fool around with all the extras on any electronic gizmo that I get my hands on. I do have some getting used to as I was a 2nd generation Nokia user, but the fact that I can actually make a phone call on the i730 makes up for everything else it may lack. Yeah, there are many other cell phones out there that have cameras, PDA's, MP3 players, portable game consoles and whatever else they want to throw in but what it all boils down to is whether you want a Digital camera with PDA functionality or a phone. Me, I chose to have a phone because I don't want to pay $50+ a month so I can make calls in the corner of my house standing on one leg carrying a re-shaped wire clothes hanger just to get enough reception to make a phone call on a nifty game-console/mp3-player/pda/digicam/medi ocre-phone.Bottom line, when you're done fooling around with all the latest "toys" that Nokia and everyone else is putting out there and are ready to actually make wireless phone calls again, the i730 is what you're looking for.
Product features:
The i730 comes with a new 65k color display with enhanced clarity that allows you to customize your screen with downloadable wallpapers, adjustable color palettes, and choice of three font sizes
Hands-free cellular conversations are always available with the built-in speakerphone
Set your phone and instantly connect to the last Direct Connect call or an assigned contact by pressing the PTT button from the main idle screen
Comes with a powerful datebook that allows you to book meetings, plan events, and set alarms that will automatically turn-on the phone if needed
Phone can store up to 600 contact entries - Store up to seven numbers for a single name

Great features but the quality is terrible

I have been a Treo customer for two years now since the Treo 600 came out. Once you use a phone like this it's very difficult to go back to a regular phone. That's why when my Treo 600 broke every two months, I hung in there thinking it was a fluke. I replaced, repaired and even upgraded but each time the phone had similar hardware related problems which made me leave palmone forever. The fact that two of my colleagues with the same phone had similar problems finally clinched it for me. The main issues are:

1. The front speaker stops working, so you can't use this as a phone unless you use an earpiece or speaker phone.

2. Eventually earpieces stop working with this phone. I've gone through three in the span of three months (different makes).

3. The SD card can easily fall out as there's no latch to hold it in place. I lost a 256MB SD card. Many times I've found them in my pocket because they just fell out of the phone while it was in my pocket.

I was shocked at how many times these problems occurred and to how many people that I know.

I WILL NEVER BUY A TREO AGAIN. And I didn't make that decision lightly, because I am hooked on all of its wonderful features. A great web browser, the QWERTY keyboard for extra fast SMS, and a smartphone that doesn't weigh a ton. Maybe in five years I'll return once I regain the confidence that PalmOne cares about quality.

Product features:
Fully integrated phone and PDA with digital video and camera capabilities
Integrated Bluetooth technology
Vibrant 320 x 320 touchscreen display
Backlit QWERTY keyboard
Email access to Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 using VersaMail

phone is ok, AT&T not so great

Like the others here, I've found AT&T to be somewhat bothersome. True, they have gotten better after the Cingular thing in terms of customer service, but I'm wary still. Despite their add campaign saying that the service is better, I still don't get any signal in my office. As for the phone, it's pretty cool. The display is pretty hard to see during the daylight, that can't be denied. I'm ok with that though. What I don't like is how, especially with the special ring tones, the phone will receive a call, light up, and then wait 5 seconds before it makes any noise or vibration. It's not a big deal if you're looking at your phone, but if it's in your pocket, it's already been ringing for 1 or 2 rings on the other person's side before you even know you've got a call. Also, it has flat out crashed on me a handful of times in the last 6 months of ownership. When I say crash, think of when computers crash - it won't do anything until I take the battery out to turn it off, but it back and then turn it back on. I've also had intermittent problems with buttons not working unless I press them at just the right angle and things like that. Last week though, the thing went completely dead. I couldn't turn it on, it didn't light up when it was on its charger, nothing worked. After a few days, it started working again. Maybe I have a loose connection somewhere, I don't know. AT&T sent a replacement overnight to me for a twenty five dollar processing fee - although they overnighted it to the wrong address (due to a really bad customer service person on the phone) and I got it 6 days later.Anyway, the Bluetooth is cool, it talks to my computer and transfers contacts and calendar items and pictures and all sorts of stuff. If I had it to do all over again, I'd probably get this phone again, but I'd think really long and hard about AT&T.

Save yourself the headaches

Not that you'd have a reason to buy this now that the Treo 650 is about the same price, but in case you were thinking of it for some reason...don't. I bought my wife one. Now I'm waiting on hold for PalmOne (24 minutes and counting) to try to get it fixed.

Needless to say the problems didn't show up until _after_ the 30 day return period. It won't charge past about 40%, which isn't enough battery life to turn on the mobile phone. It buzzes, it crackles, and it keeps doing so after every conceivable kind of reset, even the "last resort" battery disconnect reset.

I haven't had these problems with my Treo 650...and I hope I won't, because the support situation appears dismal; a not insubstantial charge for any phone support over the first 90 days, a warranty of only a year, and reports online of people who have gone through several Treo 600s in a row.

Incidentally, after around 35 minutes on hold waiting for PalmOne, I got disconnected. Their sales department answers right away, though. And PalmOne wonders why its market share keeps slipping? It's about the service. And you won't find it here. Caveat emptor; if it breaks, you're _not_ in good hands.
Product features:
Treo 600 combines a full-featured mobile phone and Palm OS organizer with wireless applications
QWERTY keyboard makes entering text and accessing information fast and familiar
Built-in color web browser, Blazer, gives you fast access to nearly all the sites on the web
Take a picture or share images with others via email
Because Treo 600 runs the popular Palm OS, there are thousands of applications you can download and use

Excellent phone for the buck

This phone is loaded with bells and whistles. This is one of the best phones that i have ever owned. The battery life is excellent, I charge the phone about every 3 days(usually waits until the bar is empty befor recharging) the talk time is great. Very small lightweight. I have MMode with att and i also use my phone with my laptop to access the internet at times when i am not in a hotspot. The IR on this phone works great and barely needs line of sight to make it work w/pc. Software was provided w/phone and it is very easy to sync outlook and contacts. voice support is really great also. I purchased this phone for $49 from ATT store, price was originally $199, but i printed out ad from Att website and took to the Att store and they matched the price...What a steal!!!!

Just OK in LA

I just bought the T610 and have been disapointed so far. The charging circuit in the phone doesn't work properly (never confirms that the battery is fully charged, even after 8+ hours of charging.) But more important, the phone's reception is very poor! I live in the Seattle area. Once in a brief while, I show all 5 bars on the display, but more often it's only 2 or 3, and a weak 2 or 3 at that. My wife bought the Samsung E105 at the same time. The side-by-side comparison is very interesting. Her phone shows 5 bars (and gets great reception) most of the time; we're both on T-Mobile. I bought the T610 primarily because I wanted Bluetooth, but it's not worth it. My recommendation - steer clear of the T610. If you buy it, I think you'll be disappointed too.

criminals.

This is a verison samsung cell phone review. Can not be pressed against the face at at all.. else cracks the phone... $300 a phone.

We bought 2 camera phones. Contract said

replacement

$50 for up to 3 phones. Called and confirmed.

Replace one phone already due to cracking at hinges. Husband phone cracking at hinges too but didn't replace since phone still works.

Plus we called and asked if we could replace. We went down and they call the police to throw us out. God forbid... they steal $600 dollars and we warn other people.. cop said to call consumer affairs. I decide to call every one and warn them about these crooks. Legal crooks.

We replace one phone due to cracking at the hinge. Seems the phones can't be pressed on the face at all......

So we had another of the exact same phone and exact same problem in another phone.(had phone one month)

Plus same problem in my husbands phone

3 phones.... phones used to retail for $300 dollars each (camera phone).

Won't replace same problem they alreay replaced phone.
They said we ripped phone apart on purpose.... I already went by two weeks ago and they said phone wasn't damaged enough. Crack just kept expanding due to use.... I could care less what phone looked like just wanted it to work...

Figured they sold $600 dollars of our money.

If I don't waste my time dealing with these thieves, I will be personally responsilbe for letting thiefs steal $600 dollars from us.

Everyone time I go in their people are screaming.... they rip people... and there is no choice

Cause they get $250 if you cancel phone service.

Criminals.

It is like they are legalized criminals conducting business to steal money from people.... unbelievable.

Treo 650 Headset: Waste of money!

I have tried several of the same model Treo 650 headsets in the event I had a defective one. I could barely hear the other caller speaking, even at MAX volume. Those whom I call commonly said "I can barely hear you." "You sound far away." "Hey? Who is this?" The item is a hunk of junk, I wish it wasn't, I gave it a second and a third chance :(

Don't buy this if a clear connection is what you want

AWFUL voice quality

My husband and I got these phones yesterday when we signed on with Verizon - a welcomed switch after six years with T-Mobile (and its predecessor). We were instantly charmed by its sleek appearance and style, and good basic features. That charm quickly faded.

We didn't even have the phones for 24 hours when we realized its HORRIBLE reception! When talking to each other, we were constantly saying, "What? Could you please repeat that?", "I can't understand you - will you say that again?", and of course, Verizon's own, "Can you hear me now?" ARRRRRGH!! Speech sounds garbled, and the sound constantly hesitates and goes out for milliseconds, making conversations stuttered and incomplete.

DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE is you want clear calls!! We're going back to Verizon, and swapping our phones for an LG-brand. This decision was based on DH calling me from nearly every phone in the Verizon store, and our comparing the quality of each one.

* TERRIBLE voice quality
* Phone heats up quickly - within two minutes - and just gets hotter, the longer you talk.
* I agree with other reviewers - the shutter sound on the camera is horrible. You can change the tone, but you can't adjust the volume.
