Motorola V180 Phone (Cingular)
A good basic phone

I got my V180 via a free upgrade through Cingular. This is my 3rd cell phone, first "flip up" model. Prior phones were from Nokia and Siemens. I've had it for 3 months now. I'm not into cameras, games, dowloading ringtones, etc. etc. I just want a cheap and reliable phone.

Pros -

- Great reception (Milwaukee, WI)
- Speakerphone works well.
- Average battery life. I have to charge every 4-5 days.
- Buttons are on the small side, but they work well. If you have long fingernails, maybe this isn't the phone for you.

Cons -

- If the phone is in my pants pocket it's difficult to hear the ring.
- Vibrations are on the weak side. If it's set to vibrate and you have it in your pants pocket, you may not be able to feel it.
- Address book sorts via first name, not last. Also, it allows only one phone number per name, so if someone has three phone numbers (home, work, and cell) you have to make three entries. There's a little symbol that tells if it's a home, work or mobile number.
- Have to crack it open to adjust ring volume.
- Manual is sketchy on the details sometimes.

Overall a good free phone. This is my first Motorola product and I am pleased.

Liked my Samsung X426 better

I just bought this phone about 3 weeks ago, b/c i wanted to be cool and have mp3 ringtones. I found the price to be reasonable. One good thing, is that I don't have any dropped calls, which I did with my Samsung X426. Other than that, the menus are bulky and not user friendly. The manual does not tell you how to do anything.

The battery on this phone is absolutely scandelous. I constantly have to have the thing connected to the charger, at home and work, b/c I am afraid that I will actually need the phone in an emergency and the battery will be drained. The battery will drain the same day after it is charged. My Samsung could go on standby for over a week. The battery is NOT ACCEPTABLE.

Also, I still cannot figure out how to get the phone to alert me when I have a text message or voice mail. My Samsung would constantly beep or make noises to notify me that I had a message. I have lost several messages and spontaneous appointments b/c I am not around my phone when I receive the message, and the phone is not around me. I would sure hope that this can be changed. One simple, one time beep is NOT ACCEPTABLE.

The volume control sucks also, the loudest volume level is still too soft, you may need a hearing aid to hear the phone ring.

I would go with nokia and stay away from motorola, motorola seems to be a company that does not get it.

Integrated VGA camera with 4x zoom and video capture

Very Good Phone

My mom and brother had had there old cellular phones for over three years, and decided they needed to change phones. Me on the other hand, had been using a pay-as-you-go phone that wasn't working for me. My brother (being the tech whiz in the family) was looking at this phone on At that point it was free after rebates, so we got it. I like the look, and it has really nice features. I would probably prefer a flip phone, but this one works just as well. I wrote this review after having the phone for 6 months and reading the reviews of others. I would say most people are right the reception is clear, the battery lasts a very long time, and it has excellent features. The cons, if any, for my mom is that she has a hard time putting on the key guard, which is true like most nokia phones. all-in-all this is a very good choice for a phone, and T-mobile is a great service provider.

maybe bigger is a little better

The small size of the phone is convenient, and so far the key pad and display size have not hindered my use of the phone. However, the reception is not very good, in part due to the high degree of background noise through the phone and especially through the ear bud. Perhaps reception issues are due also to the small antenna, but that's just my guess. If you're in the market for a cheap, small, flip phone and are willing to upgrade your ear bud, then this phone should do the trick.
Product features:
Voice activated dialing
Internet ready with optional T-Zones service
32 different ringer options
Phone Book holds up to 500 entries

Cingular is deceptive

My review is on Cingular. I bought a phone w/service and was told I could return for full refund and only charged for any air time used. THEY LIE. THE PHONE DID NOT WORK IN MY AREA AND I CANCELLED THE NEXT DAY. THEY ARE CHARGING ME FOR ACTIVATION even though it never worked in my area. If you are uncertain you will keep the phone and service, DON'T BUY from Cingular. Amazon will also do nothing to reimburse.

Built-in camera with 4x zoom
65k color TFT display
Mobile instant messaging and MMS (multimedia messaging service) capable

Its the worst phone I've ever used ! Its been 6 months since I've been using this phone and I have already replaced it once !
1)Phonebook takes ages to initialise if you switch on the phone.
2) Very very poor battery life - a day max !
3) The screen brightness has become low now
4) The camera click sound is very annoying
5) NO speaker phone
6) NO profiles
7) Sometimes it freezes and wont let me make calls

Its a waste of money !

not a successful design

slow display speed, esp. for the display of that cross when you lock/unlock the phone. weak signal capture speed, might take forever to re-synchronize with the base station when you carry it from a weak/no signal area to a strong signal area. the echo cancellation circuits have something wrong, you are always able to hear your own echo in the phone. not good human-machine interface design. pre-installed game is stupid designed, no instruction, no way to turn off the background music.

Motorola T722i Phone with Camera Attachment (T-Mobile)

I have CDMA version and battery life is short even not using games, the color display looks faded, its case looks cheap and fragile, buttons don't work well (sometimes you have to force them), there's no software for downloading from PC, so every little thing you want to load on the phone (ringtones, wallpapers, etc) you have to pay for. Not even want to mention the camera...
Pure waste of money.

Synchronize your Phonebook, Calendar and To-Do List
Email Text and Picture Messages
Voice Dialing, Recording, and Commands

I have a Samsung cell phone and this earpeice is awful!!!! Like another persons wrote, you have to have the pin (or whatever it is called) plugged in half way, and the cord has to be hanging just right and maybe you can hear something.....I wish I would have read the reivews before I bought it!!!
