Great Phone When It Gets Reception

I have had this phone for over a year now, and feel that overall it is a good phone. I appreciate the pay-as-you-go service plan, as well as the phone's tiny design. However, there are two cons that come with the Slider:
1) Reception in and around my house is terrible. Zero bars, regardless of time of day, etc. And I live in the middle of the city!

2) The buttons are tiny and flush with the keypad, and you literally need to use your fingernails to press them.

3) Vibration function is really weak. You can barely feel the phone shaking, whichc has led to many missed calls.
Product features:
No prepaid minutes included. Comes with charger.
Unique sliding design - phone slides open with the push of a thumb
Full-color screen
Downloadable, polyphonic ringtones and vibrate alert
2-way text messaging, 1-touch and voice dialing

I like it!

I'm not a professional reviewer, but I just felt like I needed to say a few nice things about this device. Also, I've only had it for one week and I have Cingular service. My initial thoughts are that this Treo 600 is wonderful. As a phone, it works great. Speakerphone is clear and loud, as is standard mode. The camera is so-so, which doesn't bother me since I really didn't get it for the camera. I can surf the web, which is nice but slow. But the PDA part is where this device really shines. I have it hooked up to receive my work e-mail, which is fantastic. I can send and receive e-mail without needing my laptop. This alone gives this device 5 stars. I imagine the Treo 600 does most things my Ipaq did, but I'll have to wait and see.Pros:
E-mail is downloadable.
Small and compact.
Speakerphone.
Sound is great.Cons:
Keyboard is kinda small, but I'm getting used to it.
Web browsing is slow. (But about what I should expect, I guess.)
Camera is not the greatest quality.
Product features:
Treo 600 combines a full-featured mobile phone and Palm OS organizer with wireless applications
QWERTY keyboard makes entering text and accessing information fast and familiar
Built-in color web browser, Blazer, gives you fast access to nearly all the sites on the web
Take a picture or share images with others via email
Because Treo 600 runs the popular Palm OS, there are thousands of applications you can download and use

NEC 515 Phone - Next Generation (AT&T)
An Almost Perfect Phone

I have had the NEC 515 for almost a week now, after having to replace a Motorola T721 that mysteriously went dead. I never really cared for the Motorola in the six months that I had it either; it creaked alot when you held it,and the flip and battery covers were cheap and wiggled alot. While a little difficult to initally set up, you eventually find after about and hour, this was a great choice. The keys are highly tactile and have a firm feel to them. The sturdy flip cover locks in place when open or closed, and the battery is held motionless by an integrated cover. There is no external screen to display caller id, time, etc., but there is a multicolored LED that can be programmed to a certain color for certain callers. Personally, I feel that an external LCD is uneccessary, and is just susceptible to scratches. When fully open, the phone also accomodates to a larger man's face. I have always seemed to have a difficult time holding some of these matchbook sized phones to my ear, and the call recipient cannot hear me clearly since the microphone is so far away. The signal strength is mostly 100%, and the antenna is built into the bottom of the phone, below the keys.I have found that if you can avoid touching this area while in call, you can increase your clarity. This model has 2 processors as well, unlike most phones, which enables you to access its applications much more effectivly. This phone is almost perfect, I will enjoy this item for a while.
Product features:
Large Color Display with 162x216 pixels (65,536 colors)
Phone supports WML, cHTML (i-Mode), and xHTML (WAP 2.0) wireless Internet
Quad-band GSM world phone is one of the first capable of roaming on virtually all GSM networks in the US and abroad

Blackberry 7230 Phone/PDA - best option

I have had my Blackberry 7230 since about May 1, 2004. I have successfully used it for phone and email in a wide variety of locations --- many of the 48 states, as well as Paris (France), Prague (Czech Republic), Shanghai (People's Republic of China) among others. Only place it hasn't worked is Tokyo (Japan) - no coverage. Well, a few locations in the US - my basement among them - also produce failure. But if you're in a city or near a major highway in the US it appears that you're virtually certain to get coverage.

It took about 3 days to get the unit set up for email initially due to the network being down when I received my unit, and the people on telephone help not being able to find that out. As a result, we tried lots of options, and suddenly three days later it worked fine, and we later found out about the network problem.

Great --- email by push (it arrives, you don't have to check for it --- standard Blackberry stuff). Calendar is fine, as is rolodex, etc.. Phone is a good thing, though the minutes aren't cheap. I regard it as an emergency/rare use phone.

The unit is very sturdy, and small enough to fit easily into my shirt pocket (I use a holster most of the time).

Synchronization with Outlook was effortless - the default settings worked just fine.

All in all - I'm very happy with this unit. Very happy. Good choice.
Product features:
Full-color screen with easy-to-use icons
International GSM service compatibility (tri-band: 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
Organizer with PC synchronization
Attachment viewing for Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, WordPerfect, and Adobe PDF
Supports Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Domino

Phone For Teen

I purchased my Audiovox 8500 Virgin Mobile phone over 3 months ago and I am very pleased with it. It is exactly what I needed for my lifestyle and needs. I don't use it every single day but when I do use it I can count on it being dependable. Whenever I call someone I hear them as clearly as if they were standing beside me. I like having the pay as you go plan and not being locked into high monthly contract fees. I am very pleased with the phone and would recommend it to anyone. Thank you Virgn Mobile.
Product features:
No prepaid minutes included. Comes with battery and charger
Seven changeable backlight display colors to match your mood
External Caller ID Display: know who's calling without opening your phone
2-way text messaging, 1-touch and voice dialing
Charger included for powering up

Motorola V330 Phone (T-Mobile)
Works with Mac

Good:
The screen is big and bright. The sound is loud and clear on the handset and on the speakerphone. You can transfer your own Midi and MP3 files for ringtones from your Mac (avoiding network fees). You can store 4MB of JPEGs on the phone for a brag-book. Speakerphone on V330 can be activated anytime during a call. No software install nec for Mac OS.

Less Good:
Some of my favortite features (like calculator) are deep inside the menus. Mac OS iSync works only over USB cable (and it's a special Motorola cable for this model), and file transfer works only over BlueTooth. But they both actually work! Sound is distorted over standard audio plug earpiece, but sounds great on the BlueTooth earpiece (for $80). Be carefull using the holster accessory (make sure it clicks). Camera is VGA (it is just a phone, after all), but works well in low light.
Product features:
Tri-band GSM phone is notable for its high-resolution display, VGA camera, and MP3 ringtones
Equipped with Bluetooth wireless technology
Built-in VGA camera with zoom captures images up to 640 x 480 pixels
Supports text messaging and wireless Internet (WAP 2.0)
Comes with 35 ringtones and supports MIDI and MP3 formats

Motorola HS810 Bluetooth Headset
An okay, somewhat overpriced headset

I purchased this for use with the Motorola v551 phone as a hands-free headset. I have no problem synching the phone and the headset, and it's only dropped calls once or twice. sound quality is fair...it's nothing good enough to play music over, but it's clear and I can understand what people are saying.

Unfortunately, the unit feels very flimsy...it's light and made of plastic. The ear clip pinches if you use the headset for any length of time. It uses a series of beeps to communicate everything, which can be confusing...did that series of beeps mean I have an incoming call, or that my battery is running out? There are two buttons for volume and one button for...well, everything else. Answering and hanging up are pretty simple...just push the button. Accessing any of the other functions requires button morse code. It is difficult to get he unit into it's belt holster, which tends to fall off your belt.

Ovaerall, I'd say this is a serviceable unit, but it could use some design improvements.
Product features:
Bluetooth wireless technology means that the sheer convenience of hands-free communication is enhanced with total freedom of movement.
Unfold the boom microphone, place the headset over the ear and a link will be established automatically.
This universal accessory encourages users to update, change and evolve because it is compatible with all other 1.1 compliant Bluetooth wireless technology phones by Motorola and other manufacturers.
Smaller Size, Bigger Power. This tiny powerhouse is less than 5 cm in diameter when folded and weighs just 20 grams.
Increased talk time of up to 5 hours and standby time of up to 100 hours.

Nokia 2285 Prepaid Phone (TracFone)
Best cell phone for preteens and teens!

Well, to start off, I would first like to say that i am a 12 year old boy. A lot of my friend shave a cell phone, so i really wanted one too. The most popular was the virgin Mobile cell phone company, but after doing research, i found that my little nokia 2285 tracfone was the way to go!

SERVICE- Although nobody on the tracfone customer service phone line is very good at speaking english, they are efficient and are very helpful. Adiding minutes to the tracfone is totally easy. Also, with my model of tracfone, the reception is absolutely exellent, and the calls are always clear.

THE PHONE- This phone beckons "hold me", it's user friendly shape calls "play one of my games", and it makes all of my friends say "pshaw" to all of their Virgin Mobile flip phones. It's 3 games are very cool, it's voice activation is an amazing feature, and the customization is very uniqye. Although the web browser doesn't work, the text messaging is super fast, and emailing works like a charm. the large, bright display is also a mojor plus. The calendaer and alarm are also very efficient and user friendly, and have come in handy many times.
All in all, this is one of the best electronics I own. I would definately reccomend it to anyone. Also, register your tracfone online and they will email you a lot of free minutes. This is a free promotion that every tracfone owner should take advantage of!!!!
Product features:
Phone comes with a 10-unit airtime refill card, and charger
Simple-to-use navigation buttons and graphical screens
Large 5-line screen
Includes phone, charger and 10-unit prepaid card.
